General Electric Composite Mechanics Engineer in Lunderskov, Denmark

Job Description Summary

Be a part of the LM Product Design Department, which are responsible for the blade design and structural integrity of blades globally. You will be part of a global and dynamic team focusing on design, test, and validation of components for wind turbine blades. Working closely together with test engineers/labs and technicians in LM WP technology center in Lunderskov, where a significant part of the research and development work related to this role takes place.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Design, test and validate of composite materials and -substructures.

  • Perform analytical and numerical modeling of composite materials and -substructures to verify component design.

  • Manage test programs and collaborate with internal- and external testing laboratories.

  • Use systematic tools to analyze failure modes in composites e.g. using tools like Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA).

  • Ensure that blade materials and components are applied in a way that ensures wind turbine blades are reliable.

Required Qualifications

  • A solid background in mechanical engineering and composites mechanics with a degree such as MSc/PhD.

  • Strong competencies in mechanics of materials, structural mechanics and fracture mechanics, - both in theory and application levels.

  • Understanding the materials at different scales ranging from materials level, to sub-structure level and up to full scale blade level.

  • Good understanding of manufacturing of composite materials.

Desired Characteristics

  • Self-driving and being able to navigate between multiple stakeholders.

  • Practical hands on experience of composite materials is also beneficial.

  • Be team player, but also being able to work independently as needed.

  • Fast learner that can manage multiple tasks in a dynamic organization where things changes quickly.

  • Be able to take ownership and lead development from idea to implementation.

  • Good communication skills and being able to present complex technical results in a simple manner.

  • High level in English – both oral and in writing.
