Job Description Summary
As the EFS EMEA Underwriting Leader, this role will lead a critical function for the business, partnering with origination, capital advisory, and others to identify risks in proposed complex commercial transactions, ensure identified risks are clearly communicated to the investment committee, and develop deal structures and solutions to ensure safe and disciplined growth for the business. The Managing Director must lead and possess the ability to inspire team collaboration and dynamism to partner collaboratively across EFS/GE.

Essential Responsibilities
Build, inspire, develop, lead and train deal teams of direct reports and functional experts who will execute on the EFS mandate.
Foster an environment where trust, character, competence and contribution is recognized and rewarded.
Partner with EFS’ Power and Renewables leaders, and the Global Capital Advisory leader to determine the basis of underwriting and deal viability.
Lead and inspire conceptual and innovative thinking to develop ground-breaking solutions within a balanced risk-reward framework.
Lead team to analyze and summarize financial underwriting model outputs and financial projections with ultimate responsibility for accuracy of model results.
Identify key issues/risks of a transaction and develop structuring solutions that appropriately mitigate those risks.
Clearly and concisely articulate key issues in oral discussions and written communications with senior management and successfully influence the outcome of a transaction across multiple decision makers and stakeholders.
Maintain in-depth knowledge of the business and industry, including economic, commercial and political issues driving the market, focused on developing actionable intelligence placing GE into preferred positioning for EPT opportunities supported by investments.
Efficiently allocate resources to maximize effectiveness in support of the articulated goals of the business.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration or equivalent; an engineering degree with financial services experience may be considered.
15+ years progressive experience in energy financial services industry including structuring/execution of complex financial products, capital markets exposure and significant credit exposure.
In depth understanding of EFS’s approach to underwriting transactions.
Strong familiarity with the region’s existing investment portfolio and portfolio management team.
Extensive experience of closing transactions across the region as principal rather than as an adviser.
Demonstrated ability and success leading cross-functional teams in an empowering and inspiring manner.
Proven ability to build/maintain strong relationships (internally and externally) while coordinating multiple tasks/priorities.
Expert in contracts, credit documentation, and negotiations; proven experience evaluating and negotiating legal documentation.
Skilled communicator who can influence a wide range of audience via balanced approach to deals and a clear understanding/presentation of risks.
Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Desired Characteristics
MBA Degree
Seasoned experience with demonstrated knowledge of structures for risk mitigation in the energy sector
In-depth knowledge of Global energy sector, markets, and trends
Ability to present ideas effectively and concisely, both written and verbal, to other deal-team members, senior management, and customers
Demonstrated success in directly negotiating and closing complex transactions with customers and working knowledge of workout processes
Knowledge of GE’s total financial product offering, in addition to other financial products including loans, partnerships, and equity investments
Expertise in financial and economic modeling and valuation
Ability to drive discretionary effort across diverse cross-functional teams
Experience managing in a matrixed environment
Multiple language skills and competencies
