General Electric Senior Training Services Instructor in Livingston, United Kingdom

Role Summary:The Senior Education Services Instructor is responsible for the delivery of classroom and on-line technical training that meets and exceeds the expectations of our customers. This position reports to the Global Education and Consulting Services Director and works integrally with associated teams to create, manage, coordinate and deliver training (globally) to customers and external partners.

Essential Responsibilities:Responsibilities will include select duties as content developer of classroom and on-line material, project manager and trainer. Successful candidates must work cross-functionally with Engineering, Marketing, and Services teams in the delivery of training programs. Opportunities to contribute in consulting services are also available, as well as autonomous management of local training projects and activities.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Delivers technical training including lecture, demonstration, and supervision of labs in the classroom.

  • Acts as technical lead on specification, design, development and implementation of new and existing courses while ensuring the customer’s needs are meet.

  • Ensure lab materials are practical and useful, including installation, testing, integration of software.

  • Performs classroom setup to develop and deliver end-user training.

  • Travel up to 50% of the time to deliver onsite courses.

  • Supporting other instructors on various training projects.

  • Use VMware images in training

  • Use online teaching and meeting tools to delivery on-line courses.

  • Work with other instructors to improve training materials and delivery.

  • Works with subject matter experts to develop accurate content and to conduct periodic reviews to validate that instructional element is meeting mutually educational criteria.

  • Perform all aspects of designing and writing systems curricula by gleaning critical technical information from multiple online manuals, user and system documentation, and customer technical correspondence.

  • Identifies opportunities for continuous process and relationship improvements between training, training materials fulfillment, documentation and technical writing.

  • Participates in ensuring that training standards, policies, procedures, and templates are followed.

  • Takes ownership of any projects assigned, taking a leadership role from conception to completion.

  • Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.


  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college and/or equivalent experience

  • Some work experience

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to write professional and technical reports and procedures.

  • Ability to make formal and informal presentations to technical and non-technical staff and customers.

  • Must be willing to travel 50%

  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Livingston, UK or Bucharest, Romania or Massy, France

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience with GE Grid Software Solution Products, especially ADMS Series 6 (formerly PowerOn Advantage)

  • Experience in industry with controls, automation and/or MES -- especially GE.

  • Experience with Software products.

  • Experience with databases (Oracle / SQL), Crystal Reports, SAP,, website design, html and programming.

  • Project management/execution skills.

  • Experience in Information Technology or similar field. Comfortable in an IT-rich environment.

  • Knowledge of instructional design methodology and experience applying it to adult learners in a highly technical environment, or the ability to learn adult education principles.

Technical Expertise:

  • Excellent PC skills required, including use of VMware, Norton Ghost, Partition Magic and MS Office applications. MS PowerPoint a must.

  • Experience with complex computer applications, presentation graphics and preparation of instructional materials. Familiarity with the electric utility industry preferred and as mentioned above the GE Digital Energy EMS products.

  • Computer-Based Training development desirable.
