General Electric Lead Engineer 1 - Advanced Gearing Design & Process in Little Rock, Arkansas
The Advanced Lead Engineer - Gearing Design & Process demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals/programs/processes for gearing design and advanced manufacturing process development. Has the experience or expertise to solve problems. Able to develop and execute objectives for self and others. This role has the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
Responsible for design, analysis and validation of internal and external spur and spline gearing, related advanced manufacturing process and other items as assigned.
Reviews essential design requirements, interfaces with supply chain and quality to identify suitable processes, initial programming parameters, and validation plans.•
Coordinates with lead systems engineers, other component engineers, service, product definition, supply chain, quality and manufacturing as needed to document and communicate requirements.
Leads failure analysis and issue resolution within the assigned gearing components.
Interfaces with Services, Customers, Product Definition and Technical Publications personnel to ensure construction of high quality service manuals.
Interfaces with internal and external supplier manufacturing process engineers, quality engineers, documenting remarkable findings according to business needs.
Leads the validation and component testing efforts from conception to execution of tests and disposition of material.
Assists lead systems engineer with inputs for any customer field testing required to verify and validate design.
Participates in manufacturing process reviews, vendor PPAPs, Manufacturing PPAPs, pilot builds, first article inspection, failure analysis.
Bachelor’s of Science degree in an engineering, physics, or computer science discipline.
Minimum of five years’ experience in gear design within the industry, i.e. Oil & Gas, Locomotive, Marine, Mining, Wind Energy, On- or Off-Road Vehicle Transmission Designers / Suppliers.
Master’s of Science degree in mechanical, aerospace or structural engineering.
Demonstrated experience operating advanced gear design software, programming gear grinding equipment, creating heat treatment recipes, setting up and interpreting results from gear measurement machines, validating design, and related skills.
Active participation within an organization which is an AGMA member.
Demonstrated experience utilizing advanced manufacturing techniques such as Additive Manufacturing.
