Job Description Summary

The Technician will work as part of the Global Supply Chain Organisation. The Technician’s main responsibility will be the assembly, test, fault diagnosis and repair of Dissolved Gas Analysis instruments and subassemblies. The Technician will work in a flow environment based on Lean principles and will be required to cross-train facilitating flexible work practices.

Job Description

  • Assembly and test of Dissolved Gas Analysis instruments and subassemblies.

  • Using test equipment and computer software to monitor, diagnose and repair equipment under test.

  • Act as “floater” for assembly, test, packing, dispatch cells, providing flexible cover for absenteeism and holidays.

  • Train colleagues on assembly and test processes.

  • Coordination between assembly / test / shipping team to sequence and prioritise daily customer requirement.

  • Working from procedures and specifications and associated documentation

  • Maintaining a safe and organised working environment.

  • Liaising with key stakeholders; internal departments, Team leaders and other depts. within the factory.

  • Achieving production and quality targets.

Required characteristics

  • Hold a minimum of a HND or equivalent qualification in Engineering (or experience of assembly, testing, analysis and repair of DGA equipment).

  • Knowledge of ergonomics and lean principles including single piece flow, 5S and waste elimination

  • Ability to read, understand and work from engineering drawings.

  • Ability to use test equipment and computer software to monitor, diagnose and repair equipment under test.

  • Calibration of reference and test equipment.

  • Experience of cabling and wiring assembly, board soldering, crimping techniques.

  • Previous experience in fine/detailed assembly techniques

  • Strong quality focus with customer needs as priority.

  • Well organised, reliable, accurate with a high attention to detail

  • Ability to work to exacting quality standards

  • Experience of working to deadlines and prioritising work

  • Problem solving skills, showing initiative and creative thinking

  • Computer literate, with a sound knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Display a team based ethos with a can do attitude and determination to succeed

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues.

  • Ability to proactively identity and resolve issues.

  • Able to work flexible hours as demand requires
