General Electric Finance Manager m/f/d - Accounting Operations in Lichtenfels, Germany

Job Description Summary

We are seeking a talented Finance Manager - Accounting Operations (m/f/d) to join our team in Lichtenfels. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring technical accounting compliance, financial controls, and operational excellence, ultimately contributing to accurate financial reporting and analysis. You will work across various accounting cycles, including inventory, revenue recognition, receivables/payables, and intercompany transactions. Responsible for driving technical accounting compliance, financial and operational internal controls, process simplification, and operational excellence to deliver accurate actual financial reporting and analysis. In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for general accounting and policy application & process administration for all cycles including inventory, revenue recognition, receivables/payables, intercompany, etc.. Understand and interpret applicable Enterprise Standards, SOP and Process Maps to deliver globally competitive financial process/accounting services.

  • Developing in-depth knowledge of a discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired expertise to execute functional policy/strategy.

  • Partners with operations, manufacturing, supply chain and sourcing teams to explain complex information. Proactively communicates with direct colleagues and the business about any material information. Provides informal guidance to new team members.

  • Impacts projects, processes and procedures in own field. The role operates with some autonomy, but is focused on execution of activities/provision of advice within an enabling discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures.

  • Utilizes technical expertise and judgement to solve problems. Leverages technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.

  • Continuously expand your knowledge in Finance and Accounting while executing our functional policies and strategies.

  • Exercise autonomy in decision-making within established guidelines and consult with senior team members for complex issues.

  • Cultivate strong customer relationships if customer-facing, serving as a technical interface between customer and company.

Required Qualifications

  • For roles outside of the USA- This role requires advanced experience in the Finance & Accounting Operations. Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience).

  • Fluency in both English and German.

  • Six or more years of accounting experience.

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel

Desired Characteristics

  • Masters Degree

  • CPA Certification

  • Proficiency in interpretation and application of US GAAP especially in Revenue Recognition, Leases, Inventory, Property Plant & Equipment and Pension Accounting.

  • Experience using Alteryx, Python or R programs alongside advanced skills in Microsoft Excel to

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to facilitate collaboration and convey complex information clearly

  • Proven ability to thrive in a matrixed organizational structure, working seamlessly across various teams and functions.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
