Role Summary/Purpose
The role of Senior Commercial Counsel for GE Digital will help provide strategic an commercial legal support for the sales and channel teams and other compliance and related matters in the region relating to the operation of GE Digital. You also will collaborate with other attorneys globally across GE and key third party partners on shared initiatives.
Essential Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will manage a large range of complex issues associated with software commercialization and sales of software as a service as well as complex software licensing. He or she will also collaborate closely with attorneys in the GE Businesses relating to the sales of software application services running on GE’s Predix software platform.
Key Responsibilities include:
Working with GE business and legal leadership to address effective critical legal strategies to enable fulfillment of our mission on a global basis.
Managing legal issues relating to the commercial operation of GE Digital
Serve as a key legal partner as part of GE Digital’s relationship with GE Businesses and GE customers and vendors
Working with members of the IP legal team to protect GE’s intellectual property while helping to grow an ecosystem of partners in the software technology area
Drafting and negotiating various alliance, cooperation, development and sales and licensing agreements and contract transactions in the software technology and business development areas
Maintaining and managing an environment to ensure compliance with company policies around the globe.
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
A law degree from an accredited Law School
Admission to practice law
Minimum of 5 years of experience of practice in the legal fields relating to development, use, commercialization and sale of software and technology solutions

Desired Characteristics
Experience in effectively participating in cross-functional business and legal teams in addressing and resolving commercial software and legal issues, particularly in the software as a service area
Experience in handling sophisticated commercial transactions and developing strategic and innovative plans for collaboration with key business partners
Ability to work independently and produce a high-quality product
Strong teamwork skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Experience with cloud offerings a plus
Experience working with customers and partners in the Asia Pacific region.
