Job Description Summary
You join a team with a global footprint, a company with 30+ years of experience in design and manufacturing of wind turbine blades and direct access to state of art laboratories and test facilities.
The role can be in Denmark, UK or India.
In the Product Engineering department, you will be the structural design owner of different blade components from its cradle to grave securing components design reliability from design to manufacturing and all the way through the entire blade lifetime. You will be working with a cross functional team of experts from different backgrounds; mechanical, electrical, material and process engineering as well as product management and sales.
To fulfil the market requirements and deliver more powerful and efficient blades, fundamental developments in some of the existing technologies become necessary. Lightning Protection and Ice Mitigation Systems are one of these areas where LM Wind Power has been working on developing enhanced technologies. With these new developments, metallic parts have become the key elements of blade composite structures which directly affecting wind turbines efficiency and reliability.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Design development of blade metallic components (e.g. for Lightning Protection and Ice Mitigation Systems) and support the manufacturing implementation.
Characterize and validate the component strength by means of proper testing methods
Define design specifications, specify technical requirements and write technical reports
Lead and own components D-FMEA and support P-FMEA
Evaluate components lifetime using statistical and reliability analysis
Establish modelling and calculation tools to verify blade components and blade designs
Contribute to RCA, technical support in communication with certification parties
Required Qualifications
MSc or PhD degree in a mechanical or similar
Extensive industrial experience within design and manufacturing of composite structures
You have knowledge at expert level within the area of metals:
Steel types, alloys, hardening and metals in general
Joining techniques
Cables for electrical components
Manufacturing methods for metallic components
Surface coating and corrosion protection
Highly skilled in analytical calculations of strength of materials, fracture mechanics, fatigue analysis
Experience with DFMEA and PFMEA
Understanding of design for six-sigma and reliability analysis.
Experience with Lightning Protection systems or other high voltage electrical components is a big advantage
Experience within CAD-design is a plus
Desired Characteristics

Strong oral and written communication skills. Be able to explain complex topics in a high level and simple way.
Excellent in collaboration and teamworking in a multi cross functional team.
