Do you want to develop and improve wind turbine blade components and help power a cleaner world? – Then you might be our new composite mechanics engineer

A key role within development of wind turbine blade components

We are looking for a new lead engineer for our Component Design department. Together with a team of highly dedicated experts you will be engaged in a variety of areas related to the wind turbine blade design ranging from aero add-ons, such as vortex generators and T-spoilers, to blade root section, bushing solutions, and other composite structures.

You will play a key role in development, qualification, and implementation of new component technologies in an environment, where there is a short distance between concept stage and full-scale manufacturing trials and field tests. You will be working cross-functionally with colleagues among Engineering, Sourcing, Supplier Quality and Operations across the globe as well as external suppliers.

You will lead brainstorm sessions and idea generation for new technologies to solve problems in a rapidly changing field. You will spend a lot of time on mechanical analyses, failure mode analyses, and designing test methods to characterize and drive down risks on new technology. You will define the design and process requirements ensuring quality and reliability of components for a lifetime in operation. You will also spend time on the shop floor of our laboratories and production facilities when new technology is being tested and implemented.

Qualifications and Desired Characteristics

  • Mechanical engineering degree (min. M.Sc. level) with good skills in mechanics of composite structures

  • Two to 10 years of experience from a similar function (e.g. within polymer or composites engineering). Responsibilities and salary will be according to qualifications.

  • You have an analytical/scientific mind-set combined with a pragmatic hands-on mentality

  • You are familiar with disciplines such as fracture mechanics, buckling instability, mechanical testing, and failure of laminate and sandwich structures

  • Good understanding of FEM analysis

  • Experience in statistics related to testing and knowledge of, e.g., LEAN and Six Sigma methodology

  • Good English language skills (written and oral)

  • You are a dedicated team player, capable of working in multi-cultural teams

  • An excellent communicator between various stakeholders of different functions and cultures

  • Flexible, energetic, curious and outgoing
