General Electric Field Service Leader SSA in Johannesburg, South Africa

Job Description Summary

The Field Service Leader SSA will report to the Regional Leader for GE Steam Power Services SSA.

This role will be tasked to lead the field services activities for the region and is responsible for staffing, training and development of field service work force to support our outage and field service activities in the region.

The role will take full responsibility for reporting the KPI, bowlers and lean improvement, viable cost management, development of the right skills for the region, resource deployment ,outage E2E success and safety leadership, tooling and support in developing the growth of our field service activities.

Job Description

What we’ll expect from you

  • Lead complete field resource management efforts with On Site Service Leader, Field Service Coordinator, and Logistics Coordinator

  • Implement Operation Safety Policy Instructions, conduct field work in compliance with OSHA and applicable regulations, and encourage good employee safety practices

  • Collaborate with Steam Power Sourcing team to identify and develop internal and external strategic partners and opportunities

  • Ensure all team members are trained and compliant on the processes, tools, methods and are available to support Field Services activities in the region

  • Provide long range planning of outages and resource needs to support business planning & associated Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Ensure compliance with Immigration and customer site access requirements

  • Process oversite of customer fulfillment activities, such as billing, cost tracking, project controls, and PR & PO processing.

  • Provide Outage Readiness oversite & process control such as Outage E2E, Readiness, Closeout, etc.

  • Ensure Readiness to Serve & Emergent response readiness for the region

  • Create and adapt solutions to execute business objectives based upon organizational strategies in an identified Service Line

  • Work with Region teams to align global strategy, based on key industry segments drivers by working closely with global functions and regional teams.

  • Collaborate with functional leadership teams to ensure alignment of objectives

  • Develop and deliver business plans for specific service line opportunities; drive the operationalization of such plans

  • Ability and willingness to work holidays, weekends and overtime as required by field assignments – Field

  • English proficiency required

  • Implement Daily management strategies to support essential responsibilities.

You bring a strong background

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university

  • Minimum of 10 years Steam Power experience with at least 5 years with staffing & training

  • Knowledge of Eskom Fleet

  • Willingness to travel as required to support critical business functions

  • High energy level - self-starter

  • Prior P&L Leadership desired

  • Strong skills in customer relationship building, facilitation, and matrix management

  • Ability to drive and manage change in a dynamic environment

  • Deep process knowledge of product lines and associated systems

  • Strong people management, team building, performance management, strategic and operations planning, process management, negotiation, and relationship management skills

  • Strong interpersonal and leaderships skills
