Job Description Summary
GE Aerospace is offering the opportunity to work with the latest technologies and applications, specializing in aircraft engine design and analysis, in a technology base. Turkey Technology Center (TTC) in Kartal/İstanbul, is one of GE Aerospace's nine engineering centers throughout the world, supporting aviation-related R&D and innovation projects that expand with new investments.
The Product Definition Advanced Lead Engineer will work as an individual contributor or module leader, along with mentoring less experienced team members, while collaborating with the cross-functional team to create and review definition of parts, modules, and assemblies in the forms of 2D cross-sections, 2D Engineering Drawings and Model Based Definition (MBD) utilizing 3D Reusable Parametric Models (RPM) in a linked model environment to meet design intent. Co-author change in design documents (CID’s). Support analysis, manufacturing, assembly, tooling, quality, and inspection while utilizing various electronic data formats. Engage with manufacturing to perform producibility reviews.
Develop reusable parametric CAD master models, improve modeling methods, review, approve and issue models.
Apply engine design control structure (associatively linked interfaces); create interfaces and control within the engine design control structure.
Understand the effects of CAD modeling techniques on the producibility of components and apply this knowledge to deliver models that consistently avoid rework cycles for manufacturing.
Develop, review, and release drawings (drafting) and list utilizing knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T); assure high quality of drawings according to requirements.
Understand and apply knowledge of assembly methods onto drawings to deliver products that meet quality, cost and schedule.
Create, manage, and execute design and configuration changes across the lifecycle of the product.
Understand and apply functional dimensioning regardless of complexity of components or assemblies, ensuring their form, fit and function.
Demonstrate strong and broad application of design practices, engineering standards and specifications.
Understand and manage model based product definition (digital product definition) creation and consumption from concept to disposal.
Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to incorporate concepts to meet design intent.
Guide less experienced engineers in product definition.
Document technical data generated by assigned projects consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
Experience in mechanical design and design for manufacturing.
Ability to use Siemens Teamcenter Visualization Mockup, preferably experience in Variation Analysis
BSc or MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aeronautical Engineering
Minimum 6 years of related hands-on experience in engineering or other technical positions.
Excellent command of written and spoken English.
Effective problem identification and solution skills.
Expert user of computer aided design (CAD), and PLM softwares, preferably in Siemens NX, and Siemens Teamcenter.
Expert user of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing as it relates to individual parts and overall assemblies (ASME Y14.5)
Preferably experience in areas such as aviation, gas turbine or internal combustion engine design.
Adaptable to work with teams from various cultures, understand behavioral and communicational differences, open to flex work style as necessary.
Have understanding of Lean at Engineering or open to learn and adapt Lean principles.
Project management and communication skills, able to monitor project status, business issues, significant milestones.
Ability to multi-task effectively in a result oriented, risk managing approach.
