General Electric Supplier Quality Engineering Specialist in Indianapolis, Indiana

Role Summary:

The Supplier Quality Engineering Specialist will drive quality for assigned suppliers, including quality plan implementation and selecting suppliers through qualification processes. The SQE Specialist will also own supplier audits, results, drive improvements utilizing supplier scorecards and ensure compliance to drive improvement plans where needed.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Includes both supplier quality assurance and supplier quality development

  • Includes supplier qualifications, action plans, audits, performance monitoring and assisting key suppliers towards industrial standards of excellence

  • SQEs have various levels of differentiation which are related to the level of technical understanding of engineering drawings and ability to manage vendors

  • Assess supplier capabilities and make recommendations on supplier acceptability and capacity

  • Understand strategies for assigned commodities & proactively drive initiatives to meet sourcing objectives

  • Analyze and track Supplier promise date accuracy and develop reports to ensure supplier promise date accuracy

  • Support commodity buys

  • Writes reports to track PO activity and supplier performance

  • Communicate with direct team and supervisor

  • Present to internal teams on metrics, project status and research

  • Compile data and present proposals for improvement in approaches, methods, procedures and processes within own supplier organizations

  • May involve significant overnight travel up to 35% Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college and one year of manufacturing engineering or quality experience (Or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Quality)

  • Ability to travel up to 35% ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT(S):
