Job Description Summary
Responsible for working in lock-step with the application or domain leaders acting as a senior technical product manager to create a clear strategic direction that will be delivered by the product development team.
You will work with the team and deliver a clear and descriptive set of requirements to enable the delivery of product features and functionality.
Your priority is seamless integration and alignment of perspectives from a broad set of stakeholders including but not limited to: Customers, Process Owners, Enterprise Architects, Application Managers, Development teams and Technical Architects.
In this role, the Sr Technical Product Manager will ensure that technical requirements for the near term upcoming development are sufficiently elaborated, such that the delivery team is enabled to estimate, plan and commit to delivery with high confidence.
Working in direct collaboration with other global BA teams for an efficient and consistent process resulting in quality deliverables from the engineering team.
Captures the voice of the customer to drive business process definitions and product needs.
Work directly with engineering leads to manage the business analysis activities to meet engineering and product goals.
Develop positive working relationships with external customers and users.
Collaborate directly with Release Manger / Product Managers and / or customers to define scope and value for new developments.
Collaborates with Release Manager for the release and sprint backlogs short-term roadmap for MVPs and monthly releases.
Collaborate with Engineering and Product Management to prioritise scope for releases and refine the Product backlog.
Responsible for ensuring that non-functional requirements exist and are prioritized alongside the functions in the Product and Release Backlogs.
Collaborates with Product Managers/TPMs to decompose features into consumable user stories.
Facilitate the breakdown of the Epic User Stories into “Sprint Sized” User Stories and participate in backlog reviews with the development team
Ensure that the features in the User Stories / requirements are expressed in a way that all members of the team, and stakeholders, clearly understand the requirements and how they fit into the product backlog.
Owns and manages the backlog; continuously orders and prioritizes to ensure that 2-3 sprints/iterations of backlog are always ready.
Collaborate closely with both Engineering & UX to ensure technical requirements, scenarios, business process maps and other artifacts align with User Experience designs.
Define requirement acceptance criteria with input from customers, product managers, and the engineering team. Generate and execute the required functional test cases.
Validates that test scenarios meet the feature acceptance criteria and customer expectations.
Responsible for the maintenance and quality of the documented user stories/requirements in the defined requirements management tool.
Engages with the development team; facilitates discussions, provides clarification, story acceptance and refinement, testing and validation; contributes to engineering design activities and decisions.
Throughout the development cycle, remain focused on the software being produced and whether it meets the requirements. Proactively provide relevant feedback to internal and external stakeholders.
Develop and be prepared to execute effective demonstrations of the product, to internal and external stakeholders.
Conducts customer and stakeholder interviews and elaborates on personas.
Demonstrates ability to influence customers and product managers through persuasion and influencing.
Maintain leading edge understanding of technologies and industry trends relevant to the application via training, webinars, on-line journals, Trade Shows and User Groups.
Lead other business analysts, agree and monitor objectives and undertake regular feedback.
Translates unstructured or ambiguous work requests into actionable user stories and work unit.
Partners with Development Managers to ensure healthy development process.
Applies Agile Methodology.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering (power systems) or a related majors, and significant experience.
Strong knowledge of software design and coding principles
Experience working in an Agile environment
Distribution Power System, or relevant electrical utility industry knowledge or expertise
An understanding of best practice business analysis methods and tools
Team Leading experience
Experience with Agile software development methodologies (Scrum)
