General Electric Executive - Technology (Controls Engineering) in Hyderabad, India

Job Description Summary

This is a critical strategic position within Gas Power Engineering organization in India. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the Global Control strategy, execution of key programs, engineering and delivery of Gas Turbine and Combined Cycle Power plant controls deliverables for our customers. This role works with a highly talented and experienced GE team & provides oversight to an extended partner team and will work with other key stakeholder across the globe to define, design and deliver premiere controls engineering experience.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide overall technology and people leadership to the Controls COE in Hyderabad in terms of engineering excellence, employee experience, operational leadership and overall people responsibility from a standpoint of capability growth through people development and strategic investments in engineering learning

  • Coach and mentor the team in a Scaled Agile Framework structure

  • Responsibility for wing to wing controls development and execution from circuit board design to commissioning of a Combine Cycle Power Plant

  • Responsibility for year over year variable and base cost productivity

  • Lead a high performing & experienced team including function leaders, principal and consulting engineers and a strong technical talent

  • Engage into strategic technology roadmap for controls & electrical design by partnering with product line and global functional teams

  • Interact, collaborate with different partners such as global functional leaders, product line, regional leaders to put in place a win-win solution in a time bound way

  • Work closely with supply chain organization for controls to drive implementation of platform strategy partnering with product line and functional leaders

  • Provide oversight and mentorship to the partner teams located in Hyderabad

  • Drive priorities such as Safety Quality Delivery and Cost that are in line with business strategy and priorities and establish a mechanism to periodically track them

  • Coach and mentor senior team members to drive increased contribution and enable career growth & development

  • Ensure a culture of innovation and business outcome driven development across the CoE to drive market competitiveness for our products and services

  • Develop network within the site, India engineering and region by participating & leading key initiatives passionate about – business and people and be known as controls technology thought leader in the region/pole

  • Responsible for driving a culture of LEAN and continuous Improvement culture in the team

  • Demonstrate and lead with the GE leadership behaviors and create an inclusive team culture that fosters growth, respects inclusion & diversity and creates a positive employee experience

Basic Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in engineering discipline or other comparable technical field.

  • Minimum 12 years of experience, 8 of which in a leadership role of engineering design management/Fulfillment and/or technology leadership experience, including multi-discipline engineering and/or cross-functional experience.

  • Prior history of meeting quarterly/annual technology, NPI goals, including scheduled development achievements.

  • Significant fulfillment experience in the areas of Gas Power controls or power plant controls

  • Prior experience leading big engineering teams covering multi-disciplinary technology areas

  • Prior experience promoting collaboration and removing obstacles to effective teamwork across the business.

  • Demonstrated ability to wield influence and executive presence in front of both key internal partners as well as customer

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results on customer outcomes

  • Demonstrated ability to hire, coach and develop professional teams of engineers

  • Ability to drive business solutions through influence and collaboration in a global, matrix organization. An impact player with shown ability to drive change in an effective and participative manner.
