Job Description Summary
Firmware Engineer will participate in embedded firmware development for Control and Power converter product application for GE Excitation EX2100e® and Load commutated inverter LS21000e® product platforms. Suitable candidate should be able to understand the requirements given to her/him and develop firmware for a specified platform. The role requires candidate to be familiar with embedded firmware development languages(C/C++) and Agile development methodology
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
In this position, the individual will be exposed to aspects of the Power generation technologies, Generator Control systems – Excitation & Static Starter, Power Converters, product firmware development.
Key Responsibilities include:-
Understand high level system requirements, architecture and low-level design requirements.
Designing, developing, coding, testing and debugging system software
Analyzing efficiency, stability and scalability of system resources
Integrate and validate new product designs
Interface with hardware design and development teams.
Assess third party and open-source software
Automated unit and regression testing.
Experience in Agile development methodology
Maintain high quality documentation of the design, code reviews and the unit test results
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelors / masters in Computer Science/ Electronics Engineering / Electrical Engineering or related field of study.
3-5 years of working experience in embedded software programming
Experience with embedded programing for power converter / drive applications.
Experience in hands on development and troubleshooting on embedded targets
Experience in C/C++ programming and good understanding of different Microprocessor architectures.
Hands on experience in embedded systems design with preemptive, multitasking real-time operating systems (preferably QNX RTOS)
Experience in doing automated unit test for C/C++ applications.
Familiarity with software configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, and peer review.
Desired Characteristics
Experience with Control Systems firmware development for converters.
Demonstrated experience working with global teams on global programs.
Self-starter, able to work with multi-functional teams (Hardware, Software, System Test. etc.)
Knowledge of software design for cybersecurity.
Good interpersonal skills.
