General Electric Operations and Materials Manager in Houston, Texas

Job Description Summary

The Material and Operations Manager will lead the Gate 2 team at the Houston Service Center which repairs and overhauls GE’s Aero-derivative gas turbine engines and modules. The Cell leader will be responsible for leading a team of Operations Leaders and Material Technicians in the successful execution of receiving, accumulating, and distributing material to support production activities for the LM Aero-Derivative Gas Turbine Engines.

Job Description

Position Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Lead and Develop a Component Repairs Coordination Team and a Component Accumulation Team across 2 shifts.

  • Identify parts shortages and aggressively solution them to meet customer schedules.

  • Work with external repair vendors to improve their efficiencies to improve on-time delivery.

  • Understand and Own the service center inventory metrics to drive accountability and forecasting.

Qualifications/Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent industry experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in shop operations, supply chain, sourcing, manufacturing, or parts fulfillment position.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in demonstrated leadership roles and responsibilities.

  • Experience working with Aero-Derivative Gas Turbines/Aviation engine and module configurations/bill of materials.

  • Strong computer skills, and high level of proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint

  • Strong verbal, written, analytical and interpersonal skills

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Inventory/Materials management + Aero Product experience a plus.

  • Green Belt or Black Belt certification / LEAN experience or equivalent quality certification / experience.

  • Strong process mindset with demonstrated track record.

  • Ability to establish priorities and initiate proactive problem solving.

  • Ability to work with multiple and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong teaming skills with a can-do attitude and able to work effectively across matrixed organization

  • Knowledge of/proficiency in Oracle ERP, Tableau

  • Customer-focused mindset with proven ability to respond quickly to customer needs.
