General Electric Inventory Manager - Refurbishment Assets in Houston, Texas

Job Description Summary

The Inventory Manager is responsible for management of refurbishment capital inventory that is comprised of GE OEM Gas Turbine Hot Gas Path and combustion assets. GE Gas Power is a parts supplier and services provider for power generation equipment. The refurbishment program’s objective is to buy, repair, and sell used power generation assets, providing OEM warranty guaranteed repaired assets to our customer base. The refurbishment team works cross functionally with the GE OEM repair shops, internal sales, customer site contacts, and materials management teams to execute refurbishment stocking strategy, manage inventory, and improve process efficiency.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute stocking strategy to manage the financial inventory of approx. $20M comprising of used and repaired assets.

  • Manage warehouse operations at Houston facility, working closely with property owners and warehouse contractors to ensure fulfillment in a safe and high-quality manner.

  • Work closely with logistics personnel to ensure cost effective, on time delivery to customers.

  • Includes activities such as processing transactions, managing processes, inventory management, and warehouse management to accomplish monthly financial targets and customer on time delivery.

  • Partner with cross functional teams to develop forecasted sales, buyback needs, stocking levels, and allocation of refurbished assets to customer contracts.

  • Ingrain elements of daily management into the processes of buyback, repair, and sales of refurbished parts. These should include lean principles that drive standard work, asset availability, and visual management.

  • Improve existing processes to enhance the refurb parts process and enable the team to make quick and informed decisions on buybacks, allocations, and financial impact.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in an inventory/warehouse operations, materials management, or supply chain environment

  • Demonstrated ability to manage inventory

  • Demonstrated ability to follow and enhance processes with efficient and sustainable controls

Desired Characteristics

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.

  • 5+ years of experience in an operations/repairs of gas turbine services, or related field

  • Highly motivated and focused on meeting business commitments, driving change & implementing process improvements

  • Experience in inventory management

  • Repairs experience with a technical understanding of gas turbine components

  • Warehouse experience and ability to manage warehouse operations

  • Understanding of lean principles and demonstrated implementation experience

  • Strong oral and written communication skills
