General Electric GEAR Center Operations Leader - Amarillo in Houston, Texas
Role Summary:The GEAR Center Operations Leader is responsible for the successful day-to-day operation of the GE Amarillo Remanufacturing (GEAR) Center. The leader has accountability for the safe and efficient operations of the shop.
Essential Responsibilities:As the GEAR Center Operations Leader, you will:
Provide day-to-day leadership of the shop with accountability for safe operations that deliver high quality product in an efficient manner
Lead a team of technicians and mechanics
Schedule and manage team tasks and workload
Ensure appropriate tools, equipment, and fixtures are available and utilized to meet production requirements
Collaborate with subject matter experts, Quality, and EHS to support the development and implementation of new shop capabilities
Supervise the development and validation of shop lift plans.
Drive process changes to improve asset utilization, delivered quality, and cost
Implement procedures and systems for a lean service shop utilizing visual management, 5S principles, and digital
Hire, train, develop, and provide ongoing leadership and direction for technicians and mechanics, guiding them in current positions and assisting with career development and training
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in manufacturing)
Minimum of 3 years of related work experience including at least 2 years managing technicians and/or mechanics
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a major component repair shop, manufacturing facility, or in uptower wind turbine repairs
Proficient in the use of a wide range of tools and fixturing including hydraulic rams, hydraulic toque tools, pneumatic torque tools, torque wrenches, bearing pullers, hydraulic presses, hand tools, multimeters, induction heaters, oxyacetylene torches
Experience in component repairs and/or remanufacturing
Strong project management and people leadership skills
NCCCO Level 2 certification
Engineering degree from an accredited university
Experience in wind turbine services
Experience establishing new shop operations
Experience developing and implementing new processes and procedures
Can-do attitude, sense of urgency, and results orientation
Ability to interact with cross-functional teams to help build effective processes
Quality management experience
Six Sigma certificate and/or LEAN qualifications
