General Electric Wastewater Treatment Operator - 2nd Shift in Hooksett, New Hampshire

Job Description Summary

The Wastewater Treatment Operator will report to the EHS site manager and will be responsible for the second shift operation of the site's wastewater treatment plant. Although an active wastewater license is not necessary, it is preferred. Experience in wastewater treatment operation is highly desired. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual who works well both on a team and independently.

Essential Responsibilities

As the Wastewater Treatment Operator, you will:

  • Operate a variety of wastewater and hazardous waste treatment and recovery equipment to control, prevent, and/or dispose of pollution to prescribed site requirements

  • Monitor machine and equipment control readings

  • Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on equipment

  • Collect storm water, wastewater, etc., related waste samples

  • Operate spill containment and clean up equipment

  • Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste storage and disposal

  • Perform related environmental, health, safety, maintenance, quality, continuous improvement, and production-flow job duties to support plant machinery, equipment, and manufacturing-related initiatives/programs

  • Maintain detailed job task documentation, reports, and records

Qualifications/Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED with a minimum of 2 years of experience in an Environmental Health and Safety or related field; Or

  • Technical Certificate from an accredited educational institution with a minimum of 18 months of experience in an Environmental Health and Safety or related field; Or

  • Associate degree in an Environmental Health and Safety or related field from an accredited college with a minimum of 1 year of applied experience

Desirable Characteristics

  • Experience in hazardous or non-hazardous water treatment operations

  • Knowledge of EPA state & local environmental regulations and OSHA safety rules & regulations

  • Experience in preventative maintenance on machine equipment

  • Proven planning, organization and execution skills with task-related plans and procedures

  • Highly motivated, passionate, and with exceptional communications skills

Additional Notes

  • Must commit to achieving Level II or greater, MA certification within two (2) years of starting on job

  • Must be able to attain a fork-truck license

  • Must satisfactorily complete training in Department of Transportation in accordance with 49 CFR 172.704(a) (1) & (2) and Hazardous Waste Management in accordance with 40 CFR 265.16 & 262.34

  • Must possess a Level II or greater Massachusetts certification
