General Electric Occupational Health Nurse (Bilingual-French) in Home/Remote/Alternate, Canada

Job Description Summary

Responsible for implementing Occupational Health Programs per GE Canada guidelines, including disability management remotely for work and non work related injury/illness, medical surveillance, remote support for First Aid at sites with out a nurse, ergonomics and wellness initiatives. The position will report to the Senior Health Service Practitioners Staff Manager and work closely with the GE Medical Director, Employee Health & Safety (EHS), Human Resources and People Leaders. This is a home based position with some travel to GE sites.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support the organization across the country although mainly in Quebec, through disability case management, return to work and modified work programs, COVID-19 screening and compliance to protocols, new hire and periodic health assessments, first aid support, flu clinics, counseling, referrals to the employee assistance program, and health & wellness promotion

  • Manage STD, LTD and WSIB claims and Return to Work programs working closely with the GE Medical Director to ensure safe and early return to work.

  • Working with management and EHS to ensure health screening, pre-placement and medical surveillance exams are conducted when needed

  • Provide advice on Health and Safety initiatives

  • Lead the Ergonomics Program

  • Maintain accurate and confidential record keeping in compliance with legal requirements and GE Principles

  • Work with the Canadian Medical team to support Occupational Health and Wellness programs that enhance the physical and emotional well-being of our employees, proactively address issues to minimize disability cases, and facilitate return to work

  • Remote support for First Aid at locations without an onsite nurse

  • R equire d Qualifications

  • Bilingual

  • Current Certificate of Registration and member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Quebec

  • Degree in Nursing, baccalaureate degree preferred

  • Certificate in Occupational Health Nursing and/or 5+ years of clinical and Occupational Health experience

  • Able to travel as required

  • Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Acts & Regulations, WSIA, and Human Rights Code

Desired Characteristics

  • Working knowledge of Ergonomics - office and manufacturing setting

  • Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (Cority)

  • Motivated and self-directed individual with the ability to function effectively autonomously working from home

  • Strong teamwork skills

  • Excellent oral, written interpersonal skills

  • Computer proficiency in MS Office : Word, Excel, PowerPoint
