General Electric Field Services Resource Manager - ANZ in Home/Remote/Alternate, Australia

Job Description Summary

The Field Services Resource Manager – ANZ is a people leadership role and part of the APAC Digital Services organization. In this role you are responsible for the management of a pool of Onshore field service technicians within Australia and New Zealand. You will plan the short term and long term dispatch strategy of field service technicians spread across the assigned countries dependent on forecast demand. You will also ensure this travelling team of technicians is appropriately trained, qualified and ready to meet service needs.

As this is a new role you will work to develop the appropriate processes to forecast resource loading for maintenance, major component exchange and site stand up activities. You will also develop training matrices to ensure the appropriate qualification of resources in order to meet customer demand – in this case the customer includes GE Site Managers from our many onshore wind service sites in ANZ, and external Asset Owners.

This role can be home or office based from the Eastern coast of Australia.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of remotely based Technicians and or Field Engineers (Electrical / Mechanical). This includes hiring as required and ongoing performance development and coaching.

  • Develop third party vendor pool of qualified contractor resources which can be leveraged to provide surge labor support to the core team.

  • Implement Daily Management processes and strategies to support resource demand forecasting and dispatch planning. Manage resource load and develop metrics to maximize financial recovery (absorption) of assigned resource pool.

  • Review technical requirements to coordinate field resources to achieve staffing plans for Wind Farm preventative maintenance, major component exchange and new farm stand-up. This includes developing “what if” scenarios for emergent or changing needs.

  • Develop training (EHS/OHS and technical) and competency metrics to ensure dispatched resources meet internal and external customer requirements, including any regulatory requirements. This includes strategic planning and getting hands on and tactically closing out training gaps by engaging with internal and third party training vendors.

  • Track backend / IT / systems metrics to ensure appropriate closure of timecards and work assignments within ERP systems.

  • Keep abreast of potential problems within the field (technical, interpersonal, IT, other) and deploy structured problem solving processes to minimize impact to wind farm site operations.

  • Communicate regularly within a diverse set of internal stakeholders including but not limited to ANZ wind farm Site Managers, EHS/OHS advisers, Engineering leaders and back end ERP support team members.

  • Understand and act on EHS/OHS rules and regulations. Periodically audit EHS/OHS related work processes (including for example JSAs and LOTO).

  • Drive open reporting for EHS/OHS concerns and engage in tactical EHS/OHS investigations, resolutions and potential improvement initiatives.

  • Own monthly operating rhythms to report out of team loading, financial recovery, competency and other metrics which may be required by Management.

  • Be willing to work during holidays, weekends and extra hours as required by the operational nature of the role.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Operations, Engineering, Commerce, Management or related field.

  • Minimum 5 or more combined years of experience in Project Management, Operations, Field Services or other related fields.

  • Minimum 3 or more years leading Project or Field Service teams in the Onshore Wind sector or a comparable Utility, Energy, Oil & Gas or Industrial sector.

  • Strong communicator, able to quickly understand audience and adjust communication style for maximum impact.

  • Demonstratable experience forecasting and planning resource load and financial recoveries.

  • Previous exposure to a matrix MNC working and reporting environment.

  • Previous exposure to Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.

  • English language as a Native or Fluent speaker.

  • Willingness to travel to project and operational wind farm sites >25% of the year.

Desirable Qualities

  • MBA, MSc, MEng, or equivalent higher level education.

  • Previous experience managing an Income Statement or Profit and Loss (P&L).

  • LEAN / Six Sigma training.

  • Formal certification in EHS/OHS.
