Role Summary/Purpose

The Image Quality and Applications Engineer will design CT algorithms and clinical applications with utilizing CT data for the next CT products and deliver features with the highest quality. Image Quality and Applications Engineer is considered as an expert in CT IQ algorithms, clinical applications, software development, working on complex technological solutions, solving issues and developing new solutions by leveraging wealth of technical experiences and knowledges.

Essential Responsibilities

GE Healthcare develops industry-leading CT technologies & innovations to deliver applications & imaging capabilities that enable physicians and radiologists to improve the level of patient care. As an Image Quality and Applications Engineer, you will become a member of the innovative technical team that drives these advances into the industry. You will report directly to the CT Systems Group Manager.

Key Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

  • Working with cross-functional engineers, marketing team, product definition team, and global team to define system requirements for new products

  • Working across functions and team boundaries to define, design, and implement technology solutions on new product introductions

  • Using broad technical expertise and experience to help resolve complex design issues with current products

  • Providing domain expertise to own/lead technical design reviews, investigation of technical risks, as well as providing innovative solutions to achieve optimal system performance

  • Developing new CT application features through product programs

  • Providing technical leadership for project execution

  • Driving innovation for competitive technical differentiation

  • Driving the implementation of software in CT scanner through product programs

  • Developing methods to improve customer workflow, and deliver system-level designs to deliver an effective solution

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Medical Physics or a closely related field

  • More than 3 years development experience in medical imaging products.

  • More than 2 years image processing and clinical application development.

  • Cording experience using script languages like python, sh/csh, matlab and etc.

  • Effective communication skills - ability to present ideas clearly and concisely

  • Demonstrated ability to pursue tasks to completion

  • Demonstrated problem solving ability and results orientation

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, matrixed, and customer focused environment

  • Business level English communication skill to drive global development work

  • Fluent level Japanese and business level English communication skill to drive global development work.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in Japan full-time

Desired Characteristics

  • Medical image processing and/or signal processing experience

  • X-ray physics knowledge

  • Demonstrated record of innovation in technology development

  • Software cording and/or in the use of software tools for analysis and simulation.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Experience with research collaborations

  • Self-starter, energizing, results oriented, and able to multi-task

  • Demonstrated problem solving ability and results orientation

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, matrixed, and customer focused environment
