General Electric Senior Software Engineer, Wireless in Helsinki, Finland

Role Summary:Healthcare is the next industry facing mobile revolution. As a Senior Software Engineer you will be part of our Wireless team and work on the design, implementation, and testing of our proprietary radio protocol with access to world-class engineering facilities. You will be at the core of our mission to transform patient care with wireless technologies.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Your main responsibility is to design, develop, and maintain embedded software related to wireless communication

  • Develop, improve, and follow well established principles for building robust and high-quality software products that are efficient and easy to maintain

  • Develop the test frameworks and test cases, and look for continuous improvements by analyzing the data from test results

  • Team work in Agile SW teams. Collaborating with other teams and partner organizations locally and off site.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, or equivalent

  • Significant experience with C/C++ programming for embedded systems

  • Good understanding of low-level embedded hardware, peripherals, drivers, low-power optimizations, and real time operating systems

  • Open and curious mindset willing to approach cutting-edge technology challenges

  • Team player attitude and good collaboration skills

  • Excellent problem-solving skills

  • Proficiency in English, both spoken and written

  • EU work permit

Desired Characteristics:

  • Understanding of wireless technologies, network protocols, and RF analysis tools

  • Knowledge on measurement technologies, and technologies for continuous data acquisition is considered an asset

  • Familiar with Agile software development methods

  • Experience with embedded systems automated testing

  • Experience with Python programming and Robot Framework

  • Experience with Linux and shell scripting

  • Experience with version control systems like Git, code review tools and the practice of continuous integration
