General Electric Resource Director - Field Operations, ONW Asia in Gurgaon, India

Role Summary:The Resources Director – Field Operations will be responsible for fulfilment, planning, recruiting and training Field Engineers and Technical Advisors across GE’s Onshore Wind Farm project sites, as well as developing a career progression roadmap for Field Resources across projects and services sites in Asia in partnership with HR team

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Field Operations Managers, Project Directors and Immigration COE to develop field resources plans for their respective target country’s/region’s onshore wind farm projects based on future demands and current needs on projects under execution

  • Partner and work closely with country/project dedicated field resources managers to develop field resource deployment plans on onshore wind farm projects

  • Review existing Master Services Agreements (MSAs) which GE has with 3rd Party Field Resources providers (e.g Field Core, WTS etc) and negotiate better commercial terms and conditions keeping in mind the local laws and regulations of GE’s current and future target countries in the Asia region

  • Develop and maintain Field Engineer deployment database across Projects and Services sites in Asia

  • Define the field resource capability map and proficiency levels across ONW projects scope related to the turbine Installation & Commissioning, and Operations & Maintenance of Wind Farms

  • Partner with Field Operations Mangers and Project Development/Bid Managers during BD/ CRM and new project proposal development in planning for field resources with new recruitment and/or deployment/sharing of resources from other countries and even other regions of GE

  • Partner with HR team to develop and standardize a career progression roadmap for field resources across Asia projects and services organizations

  • Partner with DT teams to deploy and/or extend field resource management systems/ modules (ServiceMax, Oracle Field ERP, etc.)


  • A Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering or Construction Management and/or HRM)

  • Minimum 10 years of contract or project management experience in the renewable energy/ power generation and/or construction industry of which minimum 5-7 years should be in the field resource management or similar field operations related roles

  • Blend of HR and field resource operations management experience gained from working on construction heavy projects will be a distinct advantage

  • Strong oral and written communication and persuasive skills, including executive-level communication

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Ability to take initiative and act independently and with good judgment, with little or no daily supervision or guidance

  • Commitment to integrity, professionalism, and collegiality

  • Strong problem-solving skills, pragmatism and flexibility/resilience

  • Ability to interact effectively with senior management and peers and all other levels of the organization

  • Ability to work in a complex and matrixed organization in a collaborative and boundaryless manner and to simultaneously manage numerous and varied tasks and to exercise sound judgment in prioritizing among them

  • Ability to travel throughout the region from time to time

  • Appropriate entitlement to work in India or Australia (Permanent Resident or an Australian Citizen or New Zealand Citizen)

Desired Characteristics:

  • GE leadership program graduate (for internal candidates)

  • Understanding of projects and contracts of EPC nature in Asia

  • OEM, Developer, or EPC Project experience with wind turbine-based power generation
