Job Description Summary
Reporting to the Methods & Special Tooling Leader, the tooling design engineer is involved in the design of installation tools, machining, dismantling, handling and lifting tools. Participate in the design of specialized tools related to recent major projects or being submitted.
Analyze the technical information (technical specifications, scope of work, division of work);
Responsible for the design of the site's special tooling for site assembly in accordance with site planning and budget considering the EHS aspect;
Plan the tooling design phase, follow up and coordination with the project team;
Participate in design reviews of various projects and ensure design consistent with site installation methods;
Optimisation of the tooling design or the machine to improve and reduce site installation time;
Prepare information and supervise the execution of technical drawings;
Write reports and engineering documents, including test procedures, engineering notes, maintenance manuals;
Provide technical support to the supply chain and participate in the technical support of the site teams;
Qualifications / Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (OR Associate's Degree with 4-9 years' relevant experience in hydropower industry OR High School Diploma/GED with 6-11 years' relevant experience in hydropower industry)
Minimum of 2 to 7 years of relevant experience
Valid Engineering license in US
English language skills required, knowledge of French highly preferred;
Knowledge of Safety Standards for Material Handling and Lifting Equipment (OSHA) B30.20 Below the hook;
Knowledge of welding and machining would be an asset;
Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively;
Must be authorized to work in Canada and US without restriction;
Ready to travel time to time in North America.
To be passionate about mechanical design and the field of hydropower;
Knowledge of calculation methods related to material resistance, finite element simulation, metallurgy and welding are assets for this work;
Dessin 3D drawing (NX);
SmartSheet and Excel Intermediate knowledge.
The salary range for this position is $60,000-80,000 USD. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location.
