General Electric Sr Engineer – System Value Optimization, NPI System Integration Leader in Greenville, South Carolina
Job Description Summary
The System Value Optimization Team is responsible for conceptual design of new wind turbines, system simulation through the new product development process, site specific optimization of new wind farms, and the development of analytical tools and methods.
As a System Integration Leader, you will work with multiple stakeholders to drive a turbine platform through the NPI process.
Roles and Responsibilities
Assisting with establishing timelines and deliverables, including loads cycle planning and scoping
Working with the Systems team and component teams to ensure proper approach for loads simulation to meet business need
Working with loads engineers and technical leaders to ensure quality and on-time delivery of loads
Own design reviews through NPI process
Developing and exercising system simulation models for the purposes of system-level stability analysis for wind turbines
Executing and advancing wind turbine system simulation models for the purposes of system design, analysis, loading calculations, etc.
Collaborating with the Applications Engineering team to develop solutions that enhance wind farm value and grow product application space
SVO SIL for NPI platform creates timelines and deliverables (load cycle planning), ensures SVO support for NPI needs by working cross-functionally throughout the organization and in close collaboration with SVO Manager.
Identify opportunities in wind turbine operation or system trade-offs to improve customer value
Develop methodologies to selectively target load reduction technologies based on analysis of component design driving loads
Support MLA automation and productivity
Provide technical expertise in multi-body simulation analysis and model construction to the rest of the System Value Optimization team
Develop new system simulation processes for the use of Simpack by the System Value Optimization team for NPI loads calculations
Assist with the verification and validation of wind turbine simulation models
Develop, tune, and maintain the wind turbine dynamic simulation models according to IEC guidelines and GE design processes
Perform loads calculations for new turbine configurations and turbine upgrades
Collaborate with Systems Engineers, System Integration Leadership, and Program Managers on simulation results, design challenges, and analysis techniques
Identify opportunities for simplification and automation of processes for loads simulations
Assist in the development of computational tools and process automation
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field
Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience
Minimum of 1 year of experience in systems engineering or system simulation and modeling
Experience with wind turbine system optimization or design tradeoffs to reduce wind turbine levelized cost of electricity
Experience with multi-body simulation codes (ADAMS, Simpack, etc.)
Experience with system-level stability or dynamics analysis
Experience with the development and validation of system simulation models
Knowledge of wind turbine operation, control technologies, operability, or validation
Strong written and oral communication skills
Python programming experience
Demonstrated ability for process automation projects
Experience with the new product introduction process
