General Electric Sr. Cyber Security Leader (GE REN Products) in Greenville, South Carolina

Role Summary:The Sr. Cyber Security Leader (GE REN Products) drives security technology, practices, and risk management into the Onshore Wind business’ product development programs. This is a highly visible position with responsibilities to articulate threats and risk, and drive a culture of awareness, rigor, and resilience. The Sr. Cyber Security Leader must be a communicator and collaborator, in addition to having demonstrated security, project and engineering leadership.

Essential Responsibilities:This role will function as a liaison between various engineering, product management, services, sourcing, legal as well as external stakeholders on cybersecurity architecture, requirements, and risk management.

As the Onshore Wind Product Security Leader , you will:

  • Coach and assist product development teams with secure design, including threat modeling and attack surface identification / reduction, security requirements capture, system and network hardening (secure configuration), and security validation / testing

  • Partner with Renewable Energy leadership to drive adoption of Renewables cybersecurity process and procedures as they relate to all Wind Turbines and Farms

  • Perform design and implementation reviews, vulnerability management, and incident response

  • Educate management on industry regulations, operational threats, and value of quality /security

  • Manage security assessments and drive remediation and security controls validation

  • Occasionally act as customer-facing expert, answering questions and inspiring confidence

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Cybersecurity or Computer Science

  • Minimum of 8 years experience in an engineering capacity, particularly with Industrial Control Systems (ICS)

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in threat modeling or cybersecurity requirements and design

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally up to 25%; candidates based in location other than Greenville, SC will be travelling up to 50% domestically.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Expertise in one or more: network design, embedded systems, software design, ethical hacking

  • Fluency in English; excellent written and presentation skills

  • Understanding of Renewables Product Cybersecurity Processes

  • Understanding of encryption, hashing, authentication methods, and common security controls

  • Technology or security certifications such as CCNA, CSSLP, CEH, CISSP, GICSP, PMP, or similar

  • Familiarity with one or more: STRIDE, OWASP, IEC 62443, NERC CIP, NIST, ISO 2700x, Achilles

  • Software development / debugging experience, preferably embedded; scripting (Python, etc.)

  • Networking exposure (TCP/UDP, VPN, routing (BGP, etc.), VLANs, Wireshark, etc.)

  • Knowledge of Security testing (nmap, Nessus/Qualys/Metasploit, static/dynamic analysis tools, Achilles, etc.)

  • Experience in the energy industry, or with similar critical infrastructure
