Job Description Summary

The Wind Turbine Performance Software and Analytics Senior Engineer develops software and analytics to enable integration of power curve simulation and data with user application software. The Wind Turbine Performance Software and Analytics Senior Engineer will develop such capabilities & methods and maintain ownership throughout the software life cycle including specification, design, testing, implementation, and post-release improvements.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • As Scrum Master, manage wind turbine performance application software development by following the Agile approach

  • Lead Agile Scrum team of GE and contract resources

  • Develop new capability/features to link power curve simulations to commercial documentation and to enable power curve test data analytics

  • Oversee application development, analytics development, AWS interface, and DevOps/CICD

  • Contribute to architecture design & development and full stack development

  • Develop & maintain software & scripts that link wind turbine power curve simulations to associated applications within wind turbine engineering

  • Design and coding development of software algorithms utilizing sound engineering practices.

  • Generation of documentation and standard work to enable the design and verification of software design (e.g., product and software design specifications, test specifications and reports, operating manuals, and user guides)

  • Support development of test software necessary for the production test of new features

  • Interface with internal and external customers in establishing software needs

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Major (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in software, analytics and/or database development

Desired Characteristics

  • Certified Agile Scrum Master

  • Demonstrated industry or academic experience in software development, including requirements setting, code development, system integration, release, documentation, and control

  • Demonstrated leadership of a global Agile Scrum team

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Python (or similar) programming

  • Cloud computing experience with AWS

  • Full stack developer experience. Front-end/back-end tech stack experience such as: Angular, Polymer, PHP, HTML, CSS, Java, Spring MVC, Python.

  • Development tools experience such as: GitHub, Checkmarx, SonarQube, Jenkins, Docker, Airflow, AWS ECR, Junit/Selenium, Rally, Confluence, Swagger, Kibana, ServiceNow

  • Data aggregation & analytics expertise

  • Database handling, development, and management experience such as: PostgreSQL

  • Machine learning experience

  • Wind turbine simulation and/or testing experience, especially power performance

  • Wind resource assessment, micro-siting and/or wake modeling experience

  • Demonstrated proficiency with a variety of software development languages, including but not limited to C, C++, Visual Basic, Matlab, Python, and other software development and scripting languages

  • Database programming experience (e.g. SQL, Tableau)

  • Working knowledge in the development of Graphical User Interfaces (GUI) for Microsoft Windows

  • Strong software documentation skills

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Travel, as required, to accommodate job responsibilities
