General Electric Senior Performance Engineer in Greenville, South Carolina
The Wind Onshore Services Engineering Segment is looking for a qualified candidate to fill the role of a Senior Performance Engineer. In this role, the qualified candidate will own all aspects of turbine and farm-level performance, including simulation, analysis, testing support, nacelle transfer functions, and farm level performance guarantees.
As the Senior Performance Engineer you will:
Simulate contractual power curves that incorporate real wind and ambient conditions
Ensure contractual power performance tests are executed consistent with the contract requirements, and determine root cause and correct any technical issues during performance testing
Develop tools for predicting and analyzing turbine and farm-level performance to operationalize and enhance park output
Develop methods and tools for analyzing small changes in turbine performance in order to commercialize performance upgrades
Address variability of atmospheric conditions, and the product in predictive capability and in optimizing performance
Participate in industry and standards meetings / committees as needed
Provide leadership in testing methods, analysis methods, databases and reporting
Support Matlab (or similar) use, development and scripting
Lead development of nacelle transfer functions to accurately determine wind speed at each turbine
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science
Minimum of 8 years of experience, including strong demonstration of technical and leadership skills
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in wind turbine performance
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Able to interface effectively with all levels of the organization and external customers
