General Electric Senior Global Inventory Manager (m/f) in Greenville, South Carolina

Job Description Summary

The Senior Global Inventory Manager (m/f) will establish and drive the global action plan across the entire business to lower inventory balances and increase turns to world-class levels. They will also be a critical participant in the monthly Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning (SIOP) process for major equipment, including Heavy Duty Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine, Generator, and Aeroderivative. The global inventory planning team will report to the Senior Global Inventory Manager.

Job Description

Essential responsibilities

  • Establish global inventory strategy, connecting responsible teams and organizations with the current and multi-year goals to reduce inventory and increase turns.

  • Drive a culture of rigor around inventory control processes across business to effectively manage an estimated >$3.5B inventory.

  • Lead manufacturing and other functional teams in executing an inventory management strategy to meet customer requirements within a framework that meets the business inventory targets.

  • Develop and implement a common set of KPIs, tools and communication rhythms to drive accountability at all levels of the organization.

  • Work closely with the finance team to provide inventory analysis and estimates to the business.

  • Establish material input controls and standard processes to mitigate stranded/slow moving inventory risk, drive down existing SMI/Reserve levels through re-application of excess or inactive materials, and enhance awareness of such opportunities.

  • Mentor and empower Material Resource Planners/Site Inventory Leaders in the attainment of goals with respect to inventory management.

  • Participate in the SIOP process for Gas Power and support continuous improvement efforts to maintain strong cross functional connections as organizations evolve.

  • Partner with factory, GSC strategy, and strategic sourcing teams to define inventory stocking programs for critical or constrained commodities (such as Inconel & Titanium forgings) to balance inventory, lead time and fulfillment KPIs.

  • Actively participate in the FP&A financial planning cycles.

  • Ensure a consistent handoff of planning information to the cross-functional execution teams.

  • Demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals/programs/processes.

  • Use experience and expertise to solve problems.


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college

  • Familiarity with materials management disciplines including production and inventory control

  • Considerable years of experience in a manufacturing, operations, materials or inventory management

  • Successful applicant will be legally eligible to enter into an employment relationship under the laws of Hungary.

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities, act independently, and use sound judgment

  • Proven ability to build connections with the team through personal involvement and trust
