We are looking for Senior Engineers to join Onshore Wind Technology team at multiple GE locations.

Job Description

The vision of the Onshore Wind Technology team is to develop state-of-the-art capability to enable GE’s Onshore Wind turbine customers to benefit from better cost, performance, quality, & speed to market.

As a Senior Advanced Technology Engineer, you will be responsible for researching and developing technologies to meet wind turbine product and service needs in the engineering spaces of mechanical components, electrical power conversion, acoustics, system modeling, optimization, multi-body simulation, manufacturing technology or controls.

  • Manage and provide key technical direction to large projects with critical business impact by setting expectations, holding teams accountable, and driving to successful adoption of technologies into products.

  • Mentor and collaborate across larger systems / product / engineering teams to develop designs, simulations, modeling methods, experimental technologies, and solutions while advancing TRL and MRL through appropriate engineering processes, including direct interaction with vendors as needed.

  • Collaborate with the broader Onshore Wind Engineering to assist in full adoption of new technologies into our wind turbine designs and design systems.

  • Propose, scope and execute technology programs that improve safety, quality, productivity, and cycle using sound engineering principles while adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.

  • Translate broad program objectives into executable development plans while implementing Lean strategies. Lead and participate in technical and program reviews.

  • Provide technical leadership with other engineering departments, centers of excellence, manufacturing, quality, sourcing, Global Research Center, suppliers, and others as required.

  • Prepare invention disclosures to protect technology that gives the business a competitive advantage, as well as protecting the intellectual property rights of GE.

  • Work across organizations to shape, develop and execute strategies and proposals for external funding opportunities, including engaging with government and private entities to develop onshore wind technology.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or closely related field.

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Engineering or closely related field.

Desired Characteristics

  • Ability to develop and clearly communicate detailed business strategy with new technology focus, while acting with humility and candor.

  • Graduate degree or coursework in Engineering or closely related field.

  • Demonstrated success in working in matrixed organizations.

  • Wind turbine engineering or business experience.
