General Electric Lead Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Programmer in Greenville, South Carolina
Job Description Summary
The Lead CNC Programmer will provide programming support for CNC machines tools, specifically as it relates to cooling hole technology for hot gas path components, as well as provide support to additional areas of the factory
Roles and Responsibilities
Generate and maintain CNC programs utilizing NX-CAM (NX 12) or other software. This could include multi-axis milling, turning, grinding and/or EDM
Verify new CNC programs prior to release on the shop floor utilizing Vericut
Provide CNC related support to M.E. (Manufacturing Engineer) and provide operator training during new / rebuilt machine startup and / or process improvements
Provide daily operator support in the form of CNC programming and troubleshooting support to the shop floor
Support and implement tooling & fixturing requirements associated with CNC machine tools.
Generate and support workstation instructions (methods) for CNC related issues.
Initiate and lead process improvement projects to improve safety, quality, cost and delivery
Provide guidance in the implementation and expansion of CNC/CAM technology
Provide effective communication to appropriate team members when needed
Work effectively as an individual and in a team based environment in a matrixed organization
Work effectively in a fast-paced environment while embracing and driving positive change inside and outside the organization when appropriate
Work cross-functionally with design, engineering, and supply chain to identify and retire risks on new process and technology introductions
Train other programmers as needed.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and 3 years of experience, OR Associates Degree from an accredited college or university and 5 years of experience, OR high school diploma/GED and at least 7 years of manufacturing process experience
Minimum 5 years of experience generating simultaneous 5-axis CNC Programs utilizing CAM Software

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Associates degree in Machine Tool Technology
Prior Milling, Turning, Grinding, Fast Hole EDM, Sinker EDM, or laser drilling experience
Product expertise in gas turbine or aviation components
Experience using Vericut or other CNC verification/machine simulation software.
Strong problem solving and organization skills, with above average shop math skills in geometry and trigonometry
Ability to effectively communicate to multiple levels of the organization, both verbally and through written communication
Demonstrated proficiency programming multiple types of CNC machines
Knowledge of machining high temperature alloys used in gas turbines
Minimum of 1 year of experience with high-level machine tool controls including sub-routine(macro), probing and variable based programming as well as CLM (closed loop machining)
Knowledge of post-processor development and debugging, preferably UG Post Builder
Strong knowledge of feeds, speeds, cutting tool application
Demonstrated proficiency interpreting drawing and specification requirements
Knowledge of fixture specifications, design and part clamping systems
Prior exposure to and knowledge of Lean Manufacturing
Self-motivated and self-driven
Ability to accept new challenges, take ownership, and make decisions
Demonstrated proficiency interpreting drawing requirements
Ability to multi-task and productively manage multiple projects concurrently
