Job Description

The MH&DT validation SIL is responsible for leading one or multiple validation campaigns in the Land Constrained segment of the Onshore Wind business.

You will work together with the Component Engineering, Sub-system Integration Leaders, Systems and Validation teams, among other relevant stakeholders, to deliver the best validation campaigns results.

Responsibilities include:

  • Drives validation and verification activities for the overall product/system, including sub-system/system level testing.

  • Assume ownership for all daily test activities and is the focal point for the test campaign.

  • Compile test requests and test plans from all component owners within the sub-system.

  • Assure schedule for related test request and request owner (Define/Predict/Measure/Conclude) and create test campaign schedule with proper tests request prioritization.

  • Ensure robust linkage of every test request to related D/FMEA and Ensure top FMEA risks from a sub-system perspective are prioritized.

  • Ensure complete required instrumentation.

  • Coordinate / oversee Pre DVR reviews / Schedule / host SPR.

  • Compile pre-test predictions so data can be verified against it.

  • Work with test provide (e.g. Clemson) to populate 'MIL' - Master Instrumentation List for test campaign.

  • Pull inputs from PBM test plans or based on working sessions (scoping review by test captain).

  • Ensure Validation team purchases instrumentation and test provider has install and calibration instructions in place.

  • Group channels in the MIL into 'Report ID's based on which PBMs will be using the data.

  • Work with component owners (PBMs) to determine what sampling rate, report formatting, and data formatting outputs they require for their Test Plans.

  • Make available to the test provider (e.g. Clemson) all required sub-system (MH&DT) installation documentation, in line with Installation Engineering team to assure proper planning and lifting requirements.

  • Make available to the test provider all necessary DUT (Device Under Test) maintenance instructions and define/assure complete maintenance plan during test phase.

  • Make plan for regular inspections, borescopes, oil/grease samples, and eventual tear down investigation at end of the campaign.

  • Develop a potential spare parts list to ensure minimum down-time during test execution and assure spare parts availability during test campaign (place purchase orders, etc.).

  • Determine how data will be transferred from test provider to GE, at what interval, and in what format(s) and ensure test provider understand and commit to it.

  • Establish protocol for regular data validation checks (Statistics / DUT Performance Monitoring, DUT Health Monitoring) to ensure data being received is of acceptable quality, daily quality check on measurement and DUT

  • Create plan and find resources for data post-processing within GE (e.g. FFTs, strain/displacement vs. Load, Gearbox LDM, particle counting, etc)

  • Create FRACAS protocol and execute as issues found on test (e.g. ServiceNow)

  • Be on-site on an as-needed basis to inspect or investigate issues found.

  • Create an FMEA or document Risks for specific test profiles so test provider knows what issues or safety restrictions to prepare for.

  • Be on site for critical tests throughout campaign (Commissioning, first time Fatigue loads, Extreme Loads, LVRT, Estop, etc) to give timely reaction and decision-making when unexpected ‘event’ occur (e.g. load noises, joint slips, alarms, etc).

  • Ensure Controls team provides a resource to make custom S/W to adapt turbine controller to test supplier equipment, especially for special testing needs (e.g. LVRT, Estop).

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
