If you are passionate about renewable energy and want a career in engineering and software technology, the Renewable Energy Engineering Development Program (REN EDP) is for you! REN EDP is a two-year entry-level engineering program consisting of four or more rotational assignments. Rotational assignments are engineering projects taking on the world’s toughest challenges – clean and affordable energy - and motivated by real business priorities. The program nurtures technical problem-solving skills via advanced engineering coursework, formal reports and presentations to senior leadership, in addition to valuable work experience in a fast-paced and dynamic industry.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities :

The GE REN EDP will prepare you for an exciting career tackling the world’s toughest challenge – clean and affordable energy. As a Renewable Energy Engineer, you will:

  • Execute 4 rotations over 2 years in a range of engineering roles. Each Engineer will, with guidance from Program Leadership, choose these rotations to match their skills and interests with business needs, and lay the foundation for a well-rounded, deliberate start of an engineering career. Rotations will be primarily in the Digital Services business segment, with other opportunities in Onshore Wind, LM WindPower, Hydro, Grid Solutions, Hybrid Systems or Offshore Wind.

  • Receive technical training, mentorship, and coaching from world-class technologists and experienced technicalmanagers focused on building software products and advanced analytics.

  • Participate in leadership development training with GE program members.

  • Have the opportunity to earn credit towards an MS degree in Engineering (if entering with a BS)

  • Grow your technical expertise in your chosen field and expand your skills in new areas.

As a Renewable Energy Engineering Development Program member, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of high priority teams, potentially including software product architecture and design, developing micro services leveraging AWS Cloud native services, Advanced analytics and data engineering, DevSecOps, Software validation and performance optimization, and more. The core engineering skills gained in assignments are enhanced through technical training taught by internal domain experts. Experience and training combined with mentoring and guidance from both assignment leaders and REN EDP Leaders prepares members with the technical skills and knowledge foundation needed to achieve a successful technology career at GE Renewable Energy.

Qualifications/Requirements :

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in the following Engineering majors from an ABET accredited university: Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or other related majors will be considered.

  • GPA greater than or equal to 3.0/4.0 overall

Desired Characteristics :

  • Preference will be given to persons with 3.2/4.0 overall or higher GPA in the required majors noted.

  • Prior intern, co-op, or research experience in design engineering or manufacturing

  • Strong dedication to a career in technology and a real passion for engineering

  • Demonstrated analytical approach to problem solving, learning agility

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate technical problems in clear and simple terms

  • Demonstrated leadership and teambuilding skills

  • Strong team and interpersonal skills, ability to work in project teams in an international environment

  • Proven scholastic achievements

  • Demonstrated passion for Renewable Energy through involvement in clubs, volunteering, internships, research, or similar.

  • Graduation dates: Dec 2021 or May 2022
