Job Description Summary

The Engineering EHS Leader will demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs and processes for our REN ONW Engineering Labs in NAM. In this role, a successful candidate will utilize experience and expertise to solve problems, build partnerships, develop and execute objectives for self and others and have the ability to achieve both short-term and long-term business goals.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Individuals with expertise in a specific area, such as industrial hygiene, injury & illness, ergonomics, electrical safety, process safety management, etc. and/or providing general health & safety advice and support for multiple sites or a region.

  • Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.

  • Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market

  • Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.

  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures consistent with the GE EHS Framework Elements

  • Develop and ensure compliance with GE Risk Assessments and other project specific risk mitigation strategies.

  • Maintain training records and facilitate training as required

  • Oversee modifications of EHS programs and procedures to ensure company compliance

  • Support multiple locations with audits, accident investigations and EHS concerns

  • Oversee site emergency preparedness drills and support business continuity plan

  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements

  • Develop and work with site engineering team focused on EHS program development, implementation, and improvement

  • Measure progress toward successfully meeting corporate expectations

  • Integrate the EHS function with site engineering teams

  • Ensure all regulatory required reports and submittals are filed timely and accurately

  • Support multiple teams with proper guidance, program development, training, and risk assessments

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college or High School Diploma/GED with 8 years of EHS experience.

  • Minimum of 5 additional years of experience in EHS - Functional Management

  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% of the time
