Job Description Summary

The Wind Turbine Controls Hardware Technical Leader is responsible for the wind turbine controls hardware architecture and components. In this role, you will develop products, solutions, and technology for wind turbine and farm-level control components. You will execute business critical new product introductions, drive cost-out competitiveness, and develop technology to increase AEP and ensure world-class performance.

Job Description

Essential responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategy, new technology, new design, fulfillment, and sustaining efforts for wind turbine sensors, controllers, IO, and communications hardware

  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with Segment leaders, Supply Chain, and the Global Research Center to execute strategy, grow share and profitability, and deliver for customers.

  • Align with the segment engineering team on priorities and deliverables for “core” controls hardware and controllers. Drive cost and performance for these components & systems.

  • Engage with customers to drive their success through fleet monitoring and issue resolution

  • Partner with stakeholders to drive corrective and preventative actions to deliver world-class quality for core control components.

  • Execute testing and validation plans for components.

  • Provide leadership with high integrity and oversight of processes protecting intellectual property, export controlled information, and strategic technology.

  • Occasionally travel to site to support product testing and/or customer issues

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar field with Renewable Energy emphasis

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in sensor, electrical, electronic, controls, or power systems design

  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time

  • Master of Science Degree in in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering or Mechanical Engineering

  • Strategic thinker with demonstrated ability to solve complex technical challenges.

  • Strong wind turbine electrical system expertise (control HW, control SW, power systems, etc.)

  • Demonstrated ability to work horizontally across teams

  • Understanding of data acquisition systems, remote monitoring, and SCADA

  • Experience in wind turbines design, specifically in controls hardware and software

  • Strong oral and written communication skills
