General Electric Advanced Manufacturing Engineer – Coatings and Special Process Initiatives in Greenville, South Carolina

Job Description Summary

In this role, you will be a key member of the Gas Power Supply Chain Industrialization team. The Industrialization team is responsible for leading the supply chains activities around industrializing new products and processes. This includes changes driven by NPI, product cost out (PCO), strategic alignment and optimization of the router in line with the overall commodity strategy.

Essential Responsibilities

As a Senior Advanced Manufacturing Engineer focused on coating technology, you will partner with other coating experts to develop robust coating processes for new make gas turbine products.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on coating technology in a highly cross-functional environment with engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, product management and suppliers to optimize manufacturability and component cost

  • Lead the global coating strategy and prioritization of development activities

  • Lead and execute product cost out projects

  • Serve as a technical process expert for complex problems across a diverse supply chain partnering with stakeholders to solve business critical issues

  • Provide input on coatings producibility from conceptual design through stable production

  • Manufacturing technical expert for NPI process development and qualification across all coating applications at both external suppliers and internal factories

  • Awareness of new technology and advanced manufacturing techniques

  • Responsible for management of investment and expense spending for assigned projects

  • Understand and communicate design change risks and impacts prior to implementation

  • Perform related duties as necessary


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline from an accredited college or university

  • 7+ years of engineering/manufacturing/sourcing experience

  • 3+ years of coating experience

  • Coating experience or background in design, MPE or manufacturing.

  • Special process background in materials

  • Cross functional leadership – able to motivate team effectively, facilitate collaboration, and influence a solutions-oriented culture

  • Demonstrated ability to take vague problem, identify action plan, and partner with stakeholders to achieve goals

  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to drive projects to completion under tight deadlines

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrated ability to manufacture or engineer out cost/cycle and improve product quality/performance

  • Technical knowledge and experience in gas turbines

  • Strong project management skills and detail-orientation

  • Master’s Degree in engineering or related technical discipline from an accredited college or university

  • Six Sigma training or equivalent quality training
