General Electric Production Supervision Manager in Grand Rapids, Michigan

Role Summary:The Production Supervisor - Electronics will demonstrate leadership by supervising and coaching an electronics production workforce. This includes leading daily operations to meet or exceed goals in production, safety, housekeeping, quality, cost, and customer satisfaction. In this role, you will utilize your experience or expertise to develop and execute objectives for self and others, lead your team thru collaborative problem solving, and impact short-term and some long-term business goals.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide total cell leadership to lead an environment with safety, quality, and integrity as the foundation of production operations

  • Coach and remove obstacles for production team and strive for self-directed environment

  • Communicate key business / customer issues to production team and lead collaborative problem solving

  • Drive accountability and continuous improvement in key performance indicators such as on-time delivery, quality, labor cost, and cycle time / inventory

  • Develop production workforce expertise thru individual team member coaching and strategic training / planning of manpower


  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college (OR a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum 4 years of experience in a manufacturing role)

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing leadership role leading people either directly or indirectly

Desired Characteristics:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, communication, and leadership skills

  • Experience working collaboratively in a cross-functional environment and ability to influence others

  • Demonstrated ability to navigate thru difficult / complex issues

  • Ability and willingness to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Prior experience in a front-line manufacturing leadership role

  • Prior experience as a process leader or leadership or initiatives / cultural improvements

  • Corporate Training Program graduate (manufacturing / operations / engineering)

  • Six Sigma training or Equivalent quality training

  • Ability to bring assignments to a successful completion

  • Familiarity of electronics production

  • OMLP experience (internal candidates only)
