Role Summary:

GE Aviation Systems Avionics Engineering is seeking entry level engineers interested in software engineering roles to help us invent the future of flight, lift people up, and bring them home safely within our Connected Aircraft organization. In these roles, you will be challenged to use your technical skillset, problem-solving abilities, and lean mindset to meet key business objectives for our commercial and military customers across a variety of our product lines. These opportunities are bonus eligible and will be flexible to either a work location of Grand Rapids, MI or Clearwater, FL. Essential Responsibilities

  • Capturing, understanding, and documenting software requirements for various functions of the Flight Management System (FMS) using various programming languages such as C, C#, or Ada

  • Understanding and implementing software verification plans, strategies, and test procedures

  • Authoring as well as updating software tests in various scripting languages such as Python or Visual Basic

  • Ability to identify and report issues in software or test environment to technical leads timely

  • Participate in technical and program reviews as well as software structural coverage analysis and tests

  • Ensure proper documentation of technical data is generated for the assigned projects and tasks are consistent with engineering principles, best practices, and defined processes

  • Identify, evaluate, and develop engineering tools as well as processes necessary to meet overall business strategies

  • Conduct Problem Report (PR) investigations and resolutions

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM with emphasis on Software Engineering

  • Overall GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 (based on a 4.0 scale)

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in STEM with emphasis on Software Engineering

  • Prior hands-on experience in software design lifecycle within aerospace or similar safety-regulated environment

  • Prior work experience designing and implementing real-time embedded software and subsequent verification

  • Strong communication skills with an ability to articulate technical problems in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences

  • Strong technical aptitude and willingness to dive deep to solve complex technical problems

  • Openness to learn when faced with new or unfamiliar tasks

  • Proven leadership, interpersonal, and teamwork skills

  • Knowledge of or experience with Agile software development practices and/or lean methodologies
