Job Description

Role Summary/Purpose:

The Machine Operator operates machines and processes to produce various parts of the instrument transformer. Operations may include setup, paper preparation, roll-press, winding, tearing, and taping.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Use critical thinking skills to identify alternative solutions, conclusions or approach problems. These must be done while still follow the work instructions.

  • May work with a variety of chemicals or come in contact with chemicals. Must wear the appropriate PPE and follow all health and safety instructions and dispose of chemicals appropriately.

  • Before the infusion process, verify all air openings are closed. Check that all tacky tape is secure.

  • Refill supply cart at the end of the shift or throughout the day as needed.

  • Build glass kits when time allows or when needed.

  • Debag web at the completion of infusion process.

  • Clean up work area. Sweeping, take out trash/boxes, put supplies away.

  • Continually communicate with co-workers in regard to the process and following work instructions

  • Notify supervisor immediately of any near miss or injury, no matter how slight.

  • Seek guidance from fellow coworkers or supervisor regarding various issues.

  • Maintain a positive and respectful attitude while working alone or with a team.

  • Attend crew/department meetings as required.

  • Attend plant meetings as required.

  • Identify, locate and adhere to the “LM Quality Policy”

  • Must wear the appropriate PPE and follow all health and safety instructions and dispose of chemicals appropriately.

  • May work with a variety of chemicals or come in contact with chemicals. Must wear the appropriate PPE and follow all health and safety instructions and dispose of chemicals appropriately.

  • Clean around work area throughout the day to maintain 5S.

  • Follow all policies, procedures and rules as outlined by the LM Wind Power's employee handbook.

  • Any other function as determined by the company

Qualifications/Requirements:

High School diploma or its equivalent;

  • Minimum 2 years of machine operator experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Ability and willingness to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shifts.

Desired Characteristics:

Ability to perform precise and detailed work;

  • Ability to handle heavy equipment;

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time;

  • Willingness to work outside normal work hours to support assembly requirements;

  • Basic computer skills;

  • Familiarity with 5S & lean manufacturing;

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills;

  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal);

  • Strong team working skills;

  • Manual dexterity, strong attention to detail;

  • Ability and willingness to work in a tobacco-free environment;

  • Read, understand and utilize procedures, detailed build plans, and basic mathematical calculations
