General Electric Technical Project Manager in Glen Allen, Virginia

Job Description Summary

This role will be a part of the Assessments & Industrial Security organization within Cyber and Technology Risk (CTR) and will strategically support project management and lean. Specifically, they will partner closely with the members of the Assessments & Industrial Security organization and broader CTR organization to ensure program management practices are followed, work with the software development team to implement/run agile practices, and drive lean adoption across the org.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for defining, implementing, and running project management related processes and support tools for cyber-related projects.

  • Facilitating, coordinating, and tracking activities required to ensure organizational projects are completed on time, successfully, and in a manner consistent with organizational goals.

  • Identifying dependencies and roadblocks across the product / project teams and driving the communication across all parties involved to move projects forward.

  • Developing and driving agreement on project charters, which include clear milestones and assignment of project task responsibilities.

  • Responsible for driving priority planning sessions across the org on a quarterly basis.

  • Drive implementation of Agile Methodology for Software Development team.

  • Educate the team on Agile processes, support the product owner and development team to remove impediments, improve processes and achieve high quality

  • Act as a facilitator, educator, advocate, consultant and accountability partner to the Assessments and Industrial Security organization to drive the understanding and application of Lean principles and tools.

  • Partner with the product owners to prioritize and solve problems based on voice of the customer through the application of lean.

  • Assist teams in establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) and implementing daily management to drive continuous improvement.

  • Partner with the product owners and program managers to create standard work for critical processes.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering or in a STEM major (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) and a minimum of 2 years experience

  • Minimum 2 years of project management experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience with IT/Digital operations

  • Established project management skills including standardization, quality management, document management, methods creation and maintenance, process improvement and tools for the project management function.

  • Strong analytical and strong problem-solving skills - effectively evaluates information / data to make decisions, anticipates obstacles and develops plans to resolve, creates actionable strategies and operational plans

  • Ability to identify dependencies and roadblocks across teams and organizations.

  • Highly collaborative person, comfortable with conflict and debate normally associated with change.

  • PMP, Scrum Master, Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) or related Project and Program Management certifications

  • Experience working in Agile engineering environment

  • Influences and energizes other toward the common vision and goal.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, impactful communicator at every level within the business

  • Demonstrate expert level skill in problem decomposition and ability to navigate through ambiguity.

  • Has knowledge of best practices and can interconnect different areas / workstreams to drive synergies across the org.

  • Demonstrated ability in solving complex problems and transforming results and process through the application of Lean techniques.

  • Lean advocate, capable of driving lean culture and coaching on core tools such as Daily Visual Management, structured Problem Solving, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, Transactional Process Improvement and Kanban.
