General Electric Sr. Data Operations Engineer in Glen Allen, Virginia

Role Summary:

The Sr. Data Operations Engineer will be responsible for the day-to-day operational execution of data and analytics related cloud based platforms and services. He/She will own and have accountability for data platform and service SLA’s against operational commitments while effectively balancing different competing objectives. He/She will also drive platform architecture and engineering efforts aligned to customer needs.

Essential Responsibilities:

In this role, you will:

  • Use disciplined approaches to monitor data platform and service health, including KPIs for operations, defects, quality, change control, and security compliance

  • Drive day-to-day operational tempos and rigor

  • Create new processes and SOPs to increase operational excellence and ensure that product documentation remains up-to-date

  • Track and manage bugs and feature requests with the application vendor(s)

  • Be responsible for the installation, configuration, health, and security/compliance posture of cloud-based data/analytics applications

  • Drive engineering efforts to expand the application(s) to meet growing customer needs, including version upgrades, creation of new product functionality, changes to infrastructure, or development of new services

  • Explore and develop programmatic capabilities for all aspects of service operations, with the goal of improving overall process flow and reduce manual work

  • Create and troubleshoot data integration between various platforms (i.e, APIs, relational databases, web services)

  • Explore alternative technology and approaches to solving problems

  • Navigate through ambiguity, prioritize conflicting asks and show ability to adapt to changing priorities.

  • Collaborate with different stakeholders, influence decisions, and demonstrate an ability to take strategic view

  • Proactively identify and remove obstacles or barriers

  • Make complex decisions

  • Contribute to the vision and strategy for the organization for data technology platforms and services, quality strategy and organizational and resource planning

  • Be customer-focused and use innovative technology, approaches, and/or ideas to improve customer engagement

  • Uses data, practical knowledge and innovative insights to drive timely decisions, determine appropriate courses of action, and forecast future needs while managing risk and uncertainty for the team Qualifications/Requirements: Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology/related field (STEM)

  • A minimum of 6 years of professional experienceEligibility Requirements:

  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Glenn Allen VA. Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience administering Data Visualization (BI) technologies such as Sisense, Tableau, Spotfire

  • Experience managing multiple concurrently running servers in AWS leveraging AWS services and automation tools (Terraform)

  • Strong communication skills and desire to help customers transform and achieve success

  • Willing to learn and utilize new technologies, concepts, and procedures as appropriate to project requirements

  • Working knowledge of SQL, Python, Powershell
