As a strategic partner to GE’s Chief Information Security Officer, the cybersecurity communications manager is responsible for developing and deploying measurable, integrated and effective internal communications across GE to help drive the company’s cybersecurity and security awareness goals. As a core member of the cybersecurity team, this role also develops and executes crisis communications response plans related to cyber incidents inside and outside of GE. In addition, the communications manager will provide communications support to GE’s cyber product team.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the GE Chief Information Security Officer to develop and execute communications strategies related to cybersecurity, including proactive internal communications efforts that drive understanding and accelerate learning and adoption of cybersecurity best practices. Develop and deploy executive communications program for the Chief Information Security Officer.

  • Lead, develop and execute a strategic, global internal communications and training program that promotes security awareness and supports the combined interests of Digital Technology, Cybersecurity and Crisis Management teams.

  • As a core member of the Cybersecurity team and working with Corporate Communications, this role is responsible for developing and executing crisis communications response plans related to cyber incidents inside and outside of GE. This role also will assist with crisis communications on specific business cybersecurity issues, as needed.

  • Work in concert with Digital Technology communications leader to provide communications counsel and support to GE Chief Information Security officer and cybersecurity leadership team.

  • Conceptualize, craft, and distribute thoughtful and effective messages. Collaborate with Cybersecurity team to develop messaging narrative and structured framework to proactively communicate to the enterprise on cybersecurity matters.

  • Develop strong understanding of cybersecurity solutions offered by GE. Effectively communicate offerings across GE enterprise and GE’s expertise in the space externally.

  • Partner with GE cybersecurity product leaders to provide strategic marketing communications support to be leveraged by GE businesses and external customers.

  • Measure audience impact related to awareness, understanding, acceptance and action, and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Own and develop security content for GE channels.

  • Support HR and Communications leaders in the creation and execution of a broad spectrum of employee communications and events aimed at motivating and engaging cybersecurity employees.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or related field and 8+ years in marketing/communications OR H.S. Diploma and 12+ years of relevant experience.

  • 8+ years of professional experience in communications/ marketing, building and driving strategic and engaging internal communications plans in complex environments.

Desired Characteristics

  • Cybersecurity experience is preferred

  • Demonstrated expertise working with executives, including coaching, building trust, and providing strategic communications support.

  • Experience working on cybersecurity issues or policies; deep knowledge of technology and cybersecurity space, including media, thought leaders, and digital strategies.

  • Excellent crisis communications and project management skills. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously to meet aggressive deadlines with high standards of quality.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

  • Ability to translate complex ideas into clear, influential communications.

  • A track record of demonstrating the ability to formulate and execute strategic communications plans.

  • Creative storyteller and outstanding writing and editing skills.

  • Demonstrated ability with digital media and interacting effectively with social channels.

  • Advanced investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.

  • Advanced understanding of global audiences.

  • Ability to convey ideas clearly and concisely to executive leadership.
