General Electric H2 Combustion Lead Engineer (Aero) in Garching, Germany
Job Description Summary
As a member of the GE Aviation team, you will be an expert in combustion aero design and will work within commercial aero engine combustor programs and externally funded research programs. Experience in H2 combustion systems and profound certification knowledge of aircraft engine combustors as well as experience in national and/or European research programs are essential for this position.
Execute the H2 combustion aero design/analysis/evaluation of assigned projects that meet business standards and product/program requirements following best practices and standard lean 6-sigma approaches.
Lead the development, analysis, and testing of low-emission H2 combustor designs focused on aero and thermo-acoustics.
Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical requirements, schedules, and contract commitments.
Interact with co-workers within GE combustion community and external partners to establish best practices and technical achievements.
Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments at all senior leadership levels.
Lead or participate in organizational efforts in assigned projects and/or tasks.
Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews.
Lead national/European research projects supporting the development of advanced H2 combustion technologies for future applications.
MS in combustion aero with focus on H2, emissions and aeroacoustics.
At least 5 years industrial experience in H2 combustion aero for gas turbine applications, in particular on emissions, measuring/testing and design modifications to meet customer and regulators requirements.
Working knowledge of current and oncoming aero-engine emission certification requirements (EASA/FAA), procedures and application to latest aero engine products.
Proven track record of conceiving, designing, carrying out and interpreting results of aero engine or gas turbine combustion aero designs, in particular for emissions.
Excellent communication and influencing skills with the ability to communicate at a variety of levels, from detailed design reviews to high-level leadership reviews.
Strong leadership skills capable of leading technical teams to execute assigned projects meeting deliverables on time and on budget.
Expert in CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) including 3D LES, 3D FEM and 1D network codes.
Demonstrated knowledge and expertise of combustion fundamentals, combustor aero design, combustor testing, combustion dynamics and their application to new aero engine concepts and in-service products.
Effective in contributing to a cross-functional teamwork environment.
PhD in combustion aero with focus on H2, emissions and aeroacoustics.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with capabilities to work in international environments.
Ability to guide and influence others.
Knowledge of Export Control regulations.
Six-Sigma Green Belt certified.
Aviation tagger certified.
Able to self-manage workload across a number of tasks.
Self-directed and motivated.
