Job Description Summary

In the role of the Advanced Lead Engineer for Electric Machines- Mechanical Design you will be a key member of the Hybrid-Electric team within GE Aerospace. You will work on exciting projects like the next generation single aisle aircraft propulsion system with hybridization (RISE) or the next generation hybrid regional propulsion system (AMBER).

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Perform the mechanical analysis for electric machine design

  • Lead/support the mechanical design of electric machines

  • Collaborate with interfacing disciplines of electric machine design and test

  • Support the electric machine concept development for hybrid applications

Required Qualifications

  • MS in mechanical engineering

  • Profound experience on electrical machines

  • Strong expertise in electrical machine mechanical design, preferably in the industry

  • Proven expertise in 2D/3D mechanical analysis, preferably ANSYS

  • Familiarity with in 2D/3D heat transfer finite element analysis, preferably ANSYS

  • Experience with CAD and PLM tools, preferrably Siemens NX and TeamCenter

  • Experience with rotor dynamics analysis for electrical machine applications

  • Experience in validating electric machine technology through prototyping and laboratory testing

  • Familiarity in gearbox machine system integration

  • Proven system thinker with ability to lead and work in multidisciplinary teams

Desired Characteristics

  • Ph.D. in mechanical engineering

  • Aerospace Experience

  • Excellent team player with experience in working in a global team

  • Passion for technical excellence and technology advancement

  • Ability to self-manage workload across a number of projects, self–directed and motivated
