Role Summary:

Baker Hughes, a GE company is currently hiring a Technical Presales Manager based in Houston, Texas.

In this role you will be responsible for the technical pre-sales activities for all North American sales activities and includes the pro-active promotion of the Geo-modeling, Geo-mechanical and Hydraulic Simulation technical solutions via client presentations, demonstrations and support.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • The promotion of technology business value propositions an client business value creation

  • Drive the Interaction with prospects to understand business processes

  • RFI/RFQ/RFP response preparation and submission

  • Preparation and setup of software demonstrations to match the prospective customer business requirements

  • Participating/conducting pre-sales workshops and on-site client evaluation

  • Creating product and solution presentations and collateral

  • Keeping abreast of industry, competition and technology trends and developments

  • Develop and maintain good domain knowledge and competitive intelligence technology and competitors in the geo-modeling, geo-mechanics, hydraulic fracturing and digital oilfield space

  • Responsible for liaison with software development on current and future market trends and requirements for technology enhancement requirements.


  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field is required (Geosciences, Reservoir, Engineering, Petroleum Engineering or IT)

  • 5+ years of relevant technical presales support experience.

  • 10+ years of relevant production and/or Artificial Lift/Completions experience

  • Extremely sharp thinking: ability to quickly grasp customer requirements, conceptualize solutions and present ideas on the spot. This is a key requirement

  • Knowledge of the E&P upstream industry and oil company processes

  • Ability to communicate one-to-one with top level geoscience business and IT managers of large and independent E&P operator.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills: ability to deliver presentations to large audiences, demonstrating knowledge of domain and technology

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • General knowledge of underlying IT technologies use to implement technology into E&P operator technical software ecosystems.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Knowledge of oil and gas technology and IT infrastructure requirements if preferred

  • Knowledge of Baker Hughes geoscience and geo-mechanical technology is a plus

  • Experience working in an oil company or major operator technical groups and IT departments is beneficial

  • Knowledge and contact base within the mid-continent O&G market a plus
