Role Summary:

Baker Hughes, a GE company is currently hiring a Real Estate Operations Lead role based in Houston, Texas.

The real estate operations lead will be responsible for all functional operation activities and will lead the team in defining respective global real estate standards (processes, guidelines, templates etc.) in accordance with input from the various workstreams in the real estate function including strategic, transaction and facilities management. On an ongoing basis, the operations lead will monitor and ensure compliance with global real estate standards across all real estate activities including transactions, lease administration, lease accounting, space management and workplace strategy. The goal of this role is to move major projects and initiatives forward, to appropriately integrate business feedback and ensure business and stakeholder acceptance and advocacy of real estate solutions.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Define & design global real estate standards, guidelines and manuals for services including process flows for interaction with third party vendors, internal functions and product companies (customer) with input from all real estate work streams

  • Design and implement standard processes for each real estate workstream to promote consistency and efficiency including transactions, facility management, customer alignment, vendor alignment, data and reporting, workplace standards and utilization, project management, lease administration and lease accounting.

  • Distinguish, intervene, and coach on root cause at both process and systems levels.

  • Develop and sustain process for corporate real estate health checks and maturity assessments.

  • Document control

  • Audit & compliance

  • Identify and resolve process gaps for required real estate activities

  • Direct the development of overarching strategies related to workplace, sustainability, labor and finance to govern the portfolio and set a foundation for lease master plans and individual asset strategies

  • Partner with corporate real estate general manager to develop and maintain KPI’s and operational rigor for the entire organization

  • Drive the business operational governance for the corporate real estate team to evaluate global portfolio routinely at both a region level and global level

  • Work with strategic regional portfolio managers to drive continuous improvement & lean activities

  • Lead operational best practice sharing across the corporate real estate organization, including standardization of metrics.

  • Partner with continuous improvement team to standardize internal training to improve operational excellence and drive simplification across the organization

  • Act as a change agent to instill a “customer-centric” quality culture.

  • Represent the real estate team, in partnership with the corporate real estate general manager, in business development activity and specific initiatives as required.

  • Remain up to date regarding real estate trends and be well informed about best practice / best in class solutions

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • PC proficiency and strong in excel analytical skills

  • Six sigma, lean process improvement skills (DMAIC)

Desired Characteristics:

  • Excellent interpersonal communications, and ability to influence at all levels of the organization

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills;

  • Strong PC skills

  • Black Belt or Green Belt certified (GE employees only)

  • Business process improvement experience (Lean / Six Sigma)

  • Technical degree or MBA
