General Electric J85 Military Field Service Representative in Ft Worth, Texas

Job Description Summary

The Military Field Service Representative will provide on-site technical assistance to military and civilian organizations meeting both business and contractual objectives. In this role, while acting as a liaison between the GE factory and the customer, the FSR will support depot level operations for the J85 engine performed by a third party maintenance, repair and overhaul customer in south central Texas (San Antonio, TX).

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Act as the single point of contact to the customer for timely and satisfactory resolution of concerns covering a wide variety of support services focused on depot level support of the J85 engine - Responsible for knowledge of assigned product lines, their associated configuration installations, and represents the most direct access to all appropriate internal functions to support the customer ยท Establish and maintain contact to provide on-going technical and business support to assigned customer

  • Has knowledge of best practices of engine inspection, repair, assembly, operation and test as well systems integration with relevant aircraft installation

  • Uses sound judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated maintenance, repair and overhaul processes.

  • Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.

  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements. Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Experience with operation, maintenance and overhaul of the J85 engine, depot level experience preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university (or a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in a field service / maintenance position as a Military Field Service Representative)

  • Minimum of 3 years of field maintenance, modification, and repair experience on propulsion system products

Eligibility Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to travel as required

  • Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret Clearance

  • Ability and willingness to relocate to domestic or international locations to support the needs of the business

  • Ability and willingness to successfully complete all requirements for domestic and international customer assignments

  • Possess knowledge of the learning process and how to transfer technical knowledge to less qualified personnel including the ability to express thoughts in both oral and written communications

  • Possess the ability to work independently, without technical guidance and to perform all required work tasks

  • Possess a high degree of tact, diplomacy, and ability to work and cooperate harmoniously with customer personnel

This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
