General Electric Sr. Manager, Manufacturing Engineering in Florence, South Carolina

Role Summary:

This key level position within the Florence mfg operations team, will be providing overall technical leadership within the plant. Delivering process solutions that improve safety, reduce cost, and improve quality. Developing, optimizing, and maintaining mfg processes, tools, equipment and facilities. Owning mfg productivity execution for the site, and own P&E planning and execution for the site. Supporting NPI development and implementation, and support daily operational troubleshooting.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Drive improved product quality by identifying manufacturing issues, developing cost-effective solutions, and overseeing successful implementation into production.

  • Ensure regulatory compliance through Validation & Verification.

  • Identify processes requiring validation, develop plans and analysis criteria, execute. final analysis and acceptance.

  • Lead and develop assigned engineers

  • Work with Production, Quality, Sourcing, Materials/Logistics and Engineering teams to resolve manufacturing and quality problems related to methods, processes, tooling, equipment and product design.

  • Participate in new product introductions through process layout, tool development, and new equipment.

  • Develop new process and workstation designs to reduce cycle time and support the lean manufacturing initiative.

  • Monitor and improve productivity, while ensuring all customer commitments are met in a timely, quality and cost-conscious manner.

  • Own Cost Out initiatives.

  • Troubleshoot production and packaging equipment issues, identify root cause, research and analyse solutions, execute and monitor.

  • Specify and expedite planned maintenance routines on all production equipment and systems

  • Participate on the weekly cycle counts

  • Coordinate manufacturing releases

  • Develop production tools and databases

  • Enforce Compliance, as well as Environmental, Health & Safety efforts in support of plant goals

  • Enforce LEAN manufacturing implementation

  • Provide safe processes that comply with all local and federal regulations. Assure that corrective action is taken to resolve observed safety concerns in all areas.

  • Full accountability for P&E spend (wing to wing).

Qualifications/Requirements:

  1. B.S. Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or related technical degree

  2. Minimum of 5 years of industrial experience in a manufacturing environment.

  3. Demonstrated experience owning production processes, and growing capability, yield and quality.

  4. Strong communication Skills, written and verbal.

  5. Demonstrated ability to develop metrics and consolidate /distill data for both upward and horizontal interpretation.

  6. Good Strategic Thinker; Strong Influencing Skills; Resourceful and Inclusive.

  7. Comfortable working thru pushback.

  8. Demonstrated program or project management skills

  9. Experienced owning business initiatives and driving behavior of large teams

  10. Experienced developing tools and templates

Desired Characteristics:

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. 10+ years industrial experience in Manufacturing Engineering

  2. 6-sigma DMAIC BB/MBB certified

  3. Experiences in HLA and Process Intensive manufacturing

  4. Product and Process Development experience

  5. Solid working knowledge of GEHC QMS procedures for GMP

  6. Working knowledge of GEHC IT Tools and Mfg Systems

  7. Experience developing SW requirements and supporting SW developments
