General Electric Development Engineer in Florence, South Carolina

Role Summary:

Mechanical Engineer to perform structural design and analysis of superconducting magnets and gradients for MRI. This role provides support to GE Healthcare’s New and Current Product programs and Variable Cost Productivity Programs. Participate in all phases of the product development life cycle from concept and specification generation to production ramp up, optimizing functionality, manufacturability, reliability, serviceability and cost.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.

  2. Mechanical Component design and stress analysis under static, dynamic and cryogenic thermal loads utilizing Mechanics of Materials and Fatigue Analysis (analytical and experimental)

  3. Design verification and implementation activities by analysis, prototype build and test

  4. Reliability analysis of components and systems and Design for Reliability

  5. Installed Base data analysis and reduction. Lead resolution of issues relating to Installed Base Systems

  6. Develop product, component test and purchase specifications

  7. Coordinate cross-functional design, analysis and testing.

  8. Provide creative solutions to unstructured product design challenges

  9. Maintain and develop competence required for the job.

Qualifications/Requirements:

BS Degree in Computer Science, Mechanical, Electrical or Biomedical Engineering (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of experience in mechanical component technical expertise)
